FRADON REDLINER

the august cattle connection arrived yesterday and inside was an ad featuring this bull......
- he is now $25 because of the success of his daus in the showring and the great udders of those calved
- if you buy a browndale young sire he is 15
and the best part of the ad was this .in red ink no less.
and I quote
" we appreciate the support that the holstein industry in north america has given redliner and extend a special offer on orders placed before aug 31 2009."

so there you have it a fertility specilist and a calving ease specialist with an inpressive genomic evaluation.

Re: FRADON REDLINER

I saw two Redliners the other day while on a tour. One was two days from calving and one was fresh a couple of weeks, both stood out from herdmates. A famous show jockey ( for lack of a better word ) had inquired about buying both heifers, which was a first for these guys. I got home from my trip to find a Redliner heifer calf in the field, miracles do happen.
  Love him or hate him,
  It's up in the air,
  To purchase this bull,
  It's buyer beware.
I personally have no qualms with using this bull. The scientists can't find anything worth reporting. It seems as though, if you have had a problem calf, you could have more problems, but if you have had healthy calves they will all be healthy. The bull X management X dams genetics, is more what they are leaning toward. Doug has enough confidence in this bull that he taking a young sire from him.

Re: FRADON REDLINER

Had a bouncing baby girl calf this morning, all healthy. Later on I went on the road for a while. Saw a calf with absolutely no tail, and asked if it was a Redliner, the answer was no, it was a result of a dose of repromix. Usually the results I see from this are Hereford calves, but this time the hereford had the last laugh. Heads you win but tail you lose. Then I explained why such a question would come to mind, and all he could say was leave me some before you leave. Funny story eh?

FRADON REDLINER

Would it be funny if you were the person who pulled a deformed calf out of one of your cows? Would it be funny if you purchased expensive embryos by this bull and the resulting calf was deformed? I am thinking you aren't getting ANY repeat business there.

Re: FRADON REDLINER

This board only has room for one comedian, so back off. I see or hear about more freaks of other bulls than I do about Redliners, other than on here, all because the breeder may not have waved to you at Madison once upon a time. So far anyone who has bought Redliner from me has bought more or is thinking about it. People trained to find the problem say that they can't find a problem. I realize that most people skip my comments without reading them because they've got better things to do. I've tried to the best of my ability to pass on everything I'm told. The best thing for anyone the least bit sceptical, is pass him by, cause I'm not getting rich on sales. Who would want a good looking red cow anyway? To sum up what I've said in the past, if you have had no problems, you won't have problems, but if you have had a freak , you in all likelyhood stand a good chance of being the recipient of more. Herds with problems have skeletons of some sort in their closet, all Redliner does is open the door. Please don't sue me for these comments ,as I'm visibly impaired.

For Redliner to be opening the door on these skeletons he must carry something himself. Even with one eye and a foundation tinted contact lens you ought to be able to see that.

Re: FRADON REDLINER

the one testicle theory is just that a theory and has not been expressed by anyone involved directly. By all accounts on the testing the "problem" is not a recessive trait and there is confidence that those offspring who are viable will not transmit any defects in there breeding. All parties involved are still actively working to solve the mystery and im sure when they do, if they do, it will be made public

first of all, i am not a vet but i think the vaccination theory is BS. We've used the same protocols for years and on ly had one calf come out like this. So if we have a skeleton that Redliner brought to the surface that none of the hundreds of other bulls we've used throughout the years has, then I think that mkakes him a problem.
Second, the same Taurus rep that blamed me for a deformed calf is telling local breeders (as he no longer stops here) that Redliner has no problems, however Rampage does. I personally think Rampage stinks, but I"d bet the ABS reps, would be thrilled to hear that.

Re: FRADON REDLINER

That fella shouldn't be allowed to sell semen. Most semen salesmen will try to fill your head with empty promises, but it's a cruel world out there and they have to eat. My advice would be to buy from the guy you like and support him, the industry could do without liars.
