Re: Gen I Beq Sahara

Semex sells him. He's a half brother to Shaquille.

Proof looks good. +1499 milk, +.28 fat. +10 on type. Looks like balanced type. Protect him a little on rear legs rear view, foot angle and his udder attachments. Udders look like they can also be a little deep. Good SCS, and calving ease, but a slight minus for Daughter Fertility, and they look as though they are crazy to milk. only 88 on milking temperament.

Gen-I-Beq Sahara

Out of curiosity, what are his Genotype numbers in the US? If he's genotyped

LRG ,

I think 97% for daughter fertility is more than just a slight minus.

 He is -77 for health and fertility index , just another one negatve for that score ...

I do agree with LRG that 97 is a slight minus, but i agree over 100 would off cause have been better.
Relaiability is only 57%

100 = 124 days open
 97 = 126,6 days open

Re: Gen I Beq Sahara

Thanks for the link JTTH. I'm not extremely familiar with the daughter fertility score, as you know, so I thought a 97 was just slightly low. But if JTTH's calculations are correct it doesn't seem like a big difference.

Put those numbers as far as daughter fertility over a 200 cows herd and also there is a reason that the holstein breed has 38 days open days more now than in 1980 .

The 100% is an avg , it`s not a goal , so if goal for improving that aspect of the industry wich is daughter fertility was at 105 , that means a 97 % is quite far .
