Will's cows.
Sorry to read that your family has decided to let the cows go, i know from your posts in the past that you have been torn between the options of employment and self employment and certainly would not have wanted to advice you one way or t'other, but i also know from previous posts that you will have prayed it all through and taken God's guidance in all your decisions.
So i wish your family at home and your ever expanding family at Markethill God's blessing in all the future plans.
And hey don't be forgetting about your cowtalk family!!

Re: Will's cows.
I'm sure it has to be one of the most difficult decisions a farmer has to face in life. I'm sorry to hear that the industry loses another farmer, but I hope that, in time, you will be able to say that it was the right decision.
If Moore is referring to a dispersal, then I wish your family the very best with that, and for the future.

Re: Will's cows.
THANKS A MILLION!!
It's one of the toughest decisions we've had to make, but made easier at the moment by the diabolical state of our beloved industry and Dad's health. While he's reasonably well he is still prone to depression.
As you all know I'd love to be packing in this architecture lark (especially the one and a half hour commute from Markethill to Larne most days). It's probably a case of frying pan or fire?? One only slightly worse or better than the other at the moment!
What really annoys me (so I try not to think about it too much) is the superb batch of SRB cross heifers we have coming on, I'd really love to be the one to walk them into the parlour for the first time. For now they stay, but unless there is a miraculous turn around (and miracles DO happen!) we won't be milking those heifers.
I'm afraid FOAF, that unless that miraculous turn around comes or there is a massive shake up of the dairy industry, we won't be the last dairy farmer quitting the industry, merely another "statistic".
--- Farming is the oldest JOB in the world, too many people seem to have it confused with the oldest PROFESSION!
