With the cost of inputs riseing very sharply what price are you producers going to get in the spring. Was at an NFUs milk committee meeting today and the talk was any producer not on fixed price for cake or blends and no fert bought will not cover the cost of production this spring !!.
Just wondered how the cost of production figures affect your price and when is it set?

Are you Tesco producers happy with the price increase of 0.5ppl.?
Are you happy with the need to sign up to Promar doing your costings?or loose money!!
Are you happy that your elected representatives have got you a good deal?
Is the tracking system working on cost of production against the price,is it transparent?
I know I am asking a lot of questions for a co-op member but it seems that the Tesco price is the benchmark for us all now and I wonder if these representatives really are up to the task!!!!
As they have an influence on all our prices can somebody tell me who they are when they were elected and for how long??

Are YOU happy with YOUR First milk price? Are the Arla guys happy with there price? Is anyone happy with there milk price? Probably not, but 0.5p of a rise, going into peake milk production, guaranteed till October is a hell-of-a-lot-better than any drop in price. As you are ignorant to how the "cost tracker" works, I can see why you ask. Yes I'm happy to do it, as they will pay for it in the bigger picture. Would you do it for 28p?

Are you saying the "tracking system" is a bad idea? Would you not like the same kind of mecanisim in place for First milk? Do you not understand that milk price is driven by supply and demand like any other commodiy market? If you dont like it, and I'll include myself here, GET OUT OF MILK PRODUCTION, the void you leave will only tighten supply and drive up demand. People who whine and moan like Cowgirl get up my nose, earth calling cowgirl, the board is dead, it will never come back to hold your hand, if you live out in the sticks, away from the population, expect to miss-out on the "better" contracts.

Are your's? How many of the men who set-up First milk are still milking cows for a living? The only tool primary producers have for increasing there price is demand for there product, milk is only worth as little as the next man in the chain can get away with paying same for any primary producer of any product.

No, you worry about First milk. When you sign a Tesco contract, ask them.......
Sandy, you seem to have more of a problem with Tesco than most, why? If Tesco were to offer the Pirie family a contract, would you turn it down flat? Would you sign? Or would you do like the rest of us, sit down, read through the offer, decide if it's right for you, then decide. If the Tesco job goes pear shaped, you can always resign.....
