Re: Have corporate parasites taken over First Milk

First Milk haven't lost that good Asda cheese contract ayrshire cowboy. Part of the deal when First Milk bought the cheese factories was to produce mild cheddar on contract for two years. That time is now up, and the last thing a cheese company wants to do is produce high volume low margin cheese, what is the point of chasing your tail and making a low return to your members. The volume taken by lactillis is very small, a point which potter failed to mention.
It will be more profitable to move that volume of milk into First Milk own label cheese, for a better return to members.

What the hell is there to celebrate about this news?

With the milk companies all trying to undercut each other for the supermarket business the only losers are farmers...again.

Hey-ho, groundhog day again.

Re: Have corporate parasites taken over First Milk

First milk are not celebrating any thing, they were quite happy to get out of that contract, and allow another company to make low returns, it only means that lactillis will have to drop it's price to supply that contract, let them get on with it.

…Local Representative

Main Board director Jim Baird has been ousted by Tom Yuill in a local rep election, which will mean a vote for a new director.
This may be a slap in the face for First Milk as Jim has just been on the main board lees than a year,It my be a reaction to the over zealous PC staff who would not let Tom Yuill have a list of the members names and addresses who had a vote!!!!!! Something to do with the Data Protection Act would you beleve!!! emoticon
And the ****up which left producers paying 15.9p per unit for electricity may have left producers wanting to kick someones ass!!! emoticon

…AGM

The AGM was a non event, one or to producers gave the chairman and the board a hard time but in general the got of lightly. The most anger was about the board using reserves to prop up the milk price last year, and the 0.65p cut. There was also some anger about the board member who replaced Mansel Raymond which I must say I agree with.As for an explanation about the whole upheavel of the board not a peep!!!!! they tried to tell us there was unity among the board what a joke!!I think the are all on probation for the next six months.
Robert Wiseman was a speaker after the AGM and gave a very polished talk but was also let off the hook as questions were cut short as they were running out of time, but he talked about the phenomenal growth in Wisemans business and sales since 1995 and showed a graph going up at almost 90 degrees,I bet if he had put one up to show the increase in retailer margins it was be very similar, which I beleive shows since de regulation the processors especially WISEMANS have taken the producer margin and given it to the retailers to grow there market share and because of there aggressive growth others had to follow. emoticon
