International milk price comparison

Would it be possible to run something like an international comparison of milk prices on cowtalk? Or are there to many differences in pricing systems from country to country?
Although it will be very difficult to compare these prices, we probably could see how the milk market is evolving in each country if prices were regularly posted. I know there already is a milk price thread but this more or less has turned out to be a discussion on UK milk prices.
I think it would be very interesting to see how milk pricing systems differ around the world, so I will start.

In Germany dairy companies usually pay a base price which is based on 3.7% fat and 3.4% protein. There are premiums or deductions if your cows produce more or less components. Somatic cell count has to be below 400,000 by law (normally its quite lower). Further premiums may be paid according to your milk quantity delivered per year.

Currently our dairy company Nordmilch is paying us 28 Cent per litre for october milk. For each percent fat above that you get 2.5 Cent and for each percent protein 5 Cent. Price is expected to fall dramatically in the next months. Lowest German dairy company is at 23.6 Cent per litre and best at about 35 Cent.

28 Cent equals 22.91p or 0.357$ at todays exchange rates.

foaf ,is it not that the bacto and scc bonuses only come in when both are triggered not separately?

Used to be, but they are independent now.

Personally, I think the SCC threshold of 100 is daft. And they complain constantly about the SCC getting higher - little wonder really as they have deincentivized the bonus.

They say they are paying out far more money in hygiene bonuses since they changed it.

Re: International milk price comparison

Part of that is probably because of what moore said - it was tricky to get both right, at the same time, all the time. For those who are outside united, the bonus was +0.1ppl for scc under 150 and TBC under 10, combined. Now there is a potential .35 up for grabs, and getting the bacto regularly is doable from where I'm standing.

This is in contrast to united's 'moat' in the eye, town of monaghan, who pay a similar bonus for scc under 200. And a higher base milk price by .5 to a penny annually.
