Call me Scrooge but there is no RPA Christmas cheer here - having heard that some had been paid I contacted the RPA and they haven't even finished validating ours - bah humbug!!

At 16ppl, we'll be needing ours for more pressing matters, like staying afloat. Oh yes, and eating.
With investment in slurry storage already done and dusted in northern ireland this year, the bank has swallowed ours in one quick gulp.
I'm already looking forward to next year's.
I still see it (and the american subs and tax relief etc) as market distortion, even though our's is 'decoupled' from the market. It is still used to support an unviable milk price.

I agree entirely with you FAOF.The SFP is supporting the milk price because the processors and supermarkets know we are getting that payment and they negotiate accordingly. If the payment was not there then they would have to pay more for the milk or dairy farmers simply could'nt produce it !!
How is a young farmer in the UK meant to get on the dairy farming ladder when the market is distorted in this way ! He will need to have a pretty huge wodge of cash to start,and if he has got that kind of money why would he want to milk cows anyway.Come to think about it ! Why did I get out of bed at 4.30am this morning !
p.s. I'm 45, so I dont class myself as a "young farmer"

I think santa forgot about me this Christmas, had 2 cross compliance inspections and have been told not to expect money until March at the earliest.
