Hello from Michigan

Just joined up here.
I was looking for a dairy cattle board to discuss the industry since much has changed from the days when I used to handle and work with dairy cattle.
I have many questions particularly about breeding and judging.
I grew up on a Dairy and raised Holsteins.
Back then we milked 2x a day and I don't even know if they judge them nor classify them the same anymore. LOL!!
Glad to be here!

Re: …

We had a dairy in south central Washington State. We raised grade holstien cattle. I owned the only registered holstein in the herd. She was my 4-H project.
Her name was Venida Startrek Elaine. She classified VG-85 as a dry 3yo. Her prefix was from her breeder. We didn't have one. Our farm was called Emeral Dairy.
My father had to sell the farm(including my 4-H cattle) when we moved to Michigan.
I briefly worked for a local dairy farmer near Zeeland, MI in 1985 his last name was Van Rhee. He had a prefix because his whole herd was registered but I cannot remember it. That was a LONG time ago!
I was looking at some stuff online and noticed that they classify grade cattle now. Back in our day they didn't. My brother told me A LOT has changed in the industry.
