Welcome!
I been cowtalking nearly a year ,good to know that i am not the only cow addict .
When i left school i started relief milking and studied on day release for 8 years varios courses which culminated in an HNC in dairy herd management and winning the RABDF Dairy student of the year , the same week i took over the tenancy of 100 acre 70 cow dairy unit . Since then i have taken over my parents cows and moved them here and now milk 160 on a bit over 300 acres all tenanted .
Slowly but surely getting better cow families through buying "mature" in calf PI cows but some of dads cows are deveoping well also . Every heifer calf is exciting.

To introduce myself: We milk 50 cows in Wisconsin. All Holsteins with some R&Ws which are the focus of our merchandising and flushing programs. The main focus of our breeding program is showring type. Our two main cow families are Boelk Woodstock Dana-Red and Elm-Park Justcaws-ET*RC. Main service sires are Elegant, Gibson, Kite, Charles, and Tribute.

Im Heather Campbell (Dads from Argyll), 19, currently milking 305 cows (20 dry). From austraia 
Oficially im in control of all bulls that are used in the herd but i have to work to a budget, i havnt figured how much that is exactly but most bulls are bought with PT contracts and he hasnt complained yet.
Im aiming towards long life, productive cows which get in calf and dont get mastitis (I may be dreaming) and if i get a show cow its a bonus, i dont think show type will pay our bills so i aim for milk and components (i will never use blitz and the like) as well as functional type, and heavily use bulls that have heifers that are really working in the herd. Im dabbling in polled and red HF as well.
1 thing i want more of in the herd is strength... but i havnt found the right bull yet (was considering hillcrest but then i saw his PL), front teatplace/foreudders and rear udder is what we need more of (too many blowouts) less we need of is mascot.
I have completed 2 out of three years of a bachelor of agriculture course, really enjoying pastures and soil subjects and not to boast but i am the top of my year level (love that chemistry) with an average of 73ish (subjects are scored out of 100) my next results are out on friday so ill get an official average then. People think im strange that i love chemistry and subjects that are closely associated with it (such as soil chemistry). They also think im strange cause im always looking at bull magazines, proofs on the web and posting on this forum and doing research into improving the herd, i seem to be a sponge when it comes to ag education and cows. Im not sure where i want to be employed but id prefer somewhere i can wander through proofs and pedigrees.
