posticon Michigan Football?

Howie what the heck is going on up there. I could excuse Ohio State for those kind of shenanigans, because they are so very young, but Michigan with their returning firepower? What the h, e, double hockey sticks?

Re: Michigan Football?

Good question. I'm not surprised at the defense, but I thought the offense would be better. Obviously they aren't very good. I have a feeling Michigan may have a new coach by next year. I actually like Lloyd Carr, not so much for his coaching, but for all he does for the University. My wife is an RN at Motts Children's Hospital, which is part of U of M Hospital. Lloyd is a huge supporter of Mott. They are going to build a new hospital, and he is always doing fundraisers for them. He often has his players coming in to visit with the children as well. He really is a good guy, unfortunately he and his team aren't getting in done on the field right now. Anyone want to buy some Michigan vs. Notre Dame tickets?

I heard today that never in the history of college football have Michigan and Notre Dame opened up 0-2 at the same time. If they lose to ND will they hasten the process and ask Carr to step down? This is going to kill a second recruiting class. Last years haul was brutal outside of Mallat and the receiver whose name I forget. As much as I despise Michigan as a Buckeye fan, you can't have your rival in the tank. It is killing the reputation of the whole conference. Wisconsin isn't as good as advertised, and I fully expect Ohio State to get beat this weekend in Washington. They are way to inexperienced to go across the country and win a game like this. It has been brutal the last two weeks to watch them play, knowing how bad Akron and Youngstown State are. Turnovers, bad decisions, and poor QB play. Ouch!

I think Penn State has a good chance to run the table. How sweet would it be for Joe Pa to get a shot at a national championship as he rides off into the sunset?

So what are we thinking about Saturday Howie?

My guess 31-24 Ohio State. Manningham gets two scores, Henne throws two picks.

Re: Michigan Football?

I'm not too confident about this game. I have a feeling this is Carr's last season, it would be nice to see them win for him. Should be a good game. I'm glad I sold my tickets though, their talking chance of rain and snow. It will be much nicer in my house watching it this year.

A noon game means that we don't have to listen to it while we milk!

Yes, that makes it nicer. Never have liked the 3:30 starts, unless I am going to the game, then it leaves more time for tailgating. Can't believe I sold my MICH-OSU tickets. Oh well, should still be fun to watch on TV.

I am glad at the outcome today, but it was kind of an empty win, with Hart and Henne dinged. Vernon Gohlston was unstoppable today, he made himself quite a bit of money. The wet weather made Tressel go into his kicking and defense mode, and made the second half a little anticlimactic.

I think Carr wanted to put Mallett in but Henne/the team talked him into letting Henne go back in.

Re: Michigan Football?

That was an extremely boring football game. The thing that confuses me is the lack of enthusiasm and emotion that Michigan showed. Henne was terrible, but is injured. Manningham didn't look like he was in the game at all. OSU is clearly the better team. I still wouldn't be surprised if they make it into the national championship game. How crazy would it be if they play LSU for the national championship, then Les Miles leaves LSU to come to Michigan?

All the talk about him being the answer up there. It just seems odd that the would hire someone, who Tressel beat with a QB with a torn hamstring, and a WR taking turns taking snaps.

Re: Michigan Football?

So, what he did in 2004 while at OK State is some how revelant to him getting the Michigan job? OK State has never been known as a power house, although he did quite well there, beating OK twice.

Ouch. Was sad to see the Big Ten go down again. I think OSU was competitive talent-wise, but just had soem bad breaks and a few knucklehead penalties. COngrats to your Woverines Howie - represented the conference well.

The game was so aggravating because all the breaks went LSU's way. The woulda coulda shoulda quotient was very high. Boeckman who grew up not very far from where my Dad grew up, played a bad game. I said before the game that the outcome would be predicated on Boeckman's performance. Oh well. All of us BigTen fans will have to hear about how awful the conference is for another year.
