Cow Related Books
As it’s not long after Christmas, I've recently been enjoying a couple of interesting books.
1. 60 years of Farming - John Moffitt
A very interesting book, at least I thought so. It is mainly about the development of the Friesian breed, and then Holstein in the Hunday herd and in UK as a whole. It contains loads of pictures, with the more recent ones being in colour. It's the kind of book which would keep you engrossed for hours.
2. Cow Signals - A practical guide for dairy farm management - Jan Hulsen
This book is written for dairy farmers by a Dutch vet. The main theme of the book is about not just looking at your cows but seeing them and then acting accordingly. It contains many pictures as I get the impression that the author is a strong believer in the saying "a picture tells a thousand words". This book is very practical and easy to read, and I think even experienced dairy farmers could learn from it.
3. From calf to heifer - Jan Hulsen/Berrie Klein Swormink
A similar book to the one above dealing, as the title suggests, with calf rearing.

Please note, I am not connected to any of these books in any way - I am just recommending them to other Cowtalkers.
Also, is there any other books of a cow related nature that you have read and would recommend?
Thank-you, Phillip.
