I'm with Topdeck. James, maybe you could explain where the ignorance or racism comes into that.

Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
my personal knowledge of people who are dying is limited to those who are skin and bone and in a hospital bed hooked up to all kinds of tubes. If they hadve wheeled this bloke on a plane with a wheel chair or strecher attached to an oxygen bottle and said they let him go on compassionate grounds I wouldve understood. But someone who carries as much flesh as he did,can walk up and down airline stairs unassisted (he was more mobile than me after I tore the ligaments off my knee)is not going to die anytime soon.AS far as that goes we are all dying the question is when?So when is he going to die?

top deck ,dont for a minute feel that we are advantaged or privelaged in Scotland by having some kind of condensed parliment.
So far from the original construction of the building through to this lastest fiasco it has in my opinion been an unmitgated disaster not only financially but also in terms of making big fish in a pond where before they were mere sprats. Who had ever heard of Kenny McKaskill before this ??, let alone giving him a position of such absolute power that he can ignore the wishes of a nation ..

Re: Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
Don't forget Top Deck, Northern Ireland has its own 'government' too, all-be-it stumbling, bumbling and fumbling. I think what you miss out on is the fact that the London parliament makes decisions for the sake of England, and the other three territories just have to make do.
This terrorist release is nothing new to us in Northern Ireland, I'm afraid. As Carndeen said, hundreds of murderers, snipers, bombmakers and those who poisoned young peoples' minds, who shot farmers and farmers' sons in order to force the sale of their land, were released or pardoned as a result of a political agreement in 1998.
It didn't make any sense at the time, and never will.
We also have to thank the EU human rights laws I would imagine, which we've all been suckered into.
I'd like to think that a guy like this walks away from his human rights when he commits a crime like this. He should have been treated humanely, and moved to a secure hospital as his conditions worsens etc, but not released.

FiringOnAllFour and robroy, I totally agree with you both. These islands of ours are massively over-governed at an intolerable cost to the tax payer.
And lest we forget the dreaded EU "parliament"? If only!

The 'London parliament', as you put it, is made up of elected MP's from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and is supposed to make decisions for the whole UK, not just England.
Unlike the other 3 UK members there is no independant assembly for England. If it were one of the Celtic nations without it's own assembly there would be huge uproar based on racism and human rights.
Wouldn't believe for a minute that having such an assembly in any of the 4 countries would be an advantage to anyone other than the politicians and staff paid to run it.
Anyone putting themselves forward for election to any parliament as a career move probably isn't fit to represent the people electing them.

Re: Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
The stink about the Libyan's release seems to be growing. If a deal based on oil included this mans release it not only makes a mockery of the whole Lockerbie case, but ought to raise questions about how there can be wars against terror in Iraq and Afghanistan whilst returning terrorists to Libya.

Re: Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
I have it on pretty good authority that Eric Holder (US attorney General) was involved in the decision making of releasing the Libyan. It is my understanding that he was in on a conference call with the scots and Brittish. If its true and it gets out he might be toast.
