Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
I think that the release may be correct
Ofcourse We must not underestimate the great suffering of the people involved However without compassion we have nothing If it was done for trade this was wrong but i hope and think the SNP officals had higher motives It is very difficult to show be mercy to those who have wronged us but without mercy we have no hope in our relationships

quote: Big Bird wrote:
The 'London parliament', as you put it, is made up of elected MP's from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and is supposed to make decisions for the whole UK, not just England.
The most important word in that sentence is 'supposed'. I'm surprised that even an Englishman such as yourself would dispute that the South East is the tail which wags the dog. It goes beyond parliament. The things that matter happen behind closed doors in Whitehall and 'The City'.

That's why I put the word supposed in there.
I'd seriously doubt whether Scotland, Wales and N.I. are any more disadvantaged by the system than the huge tracts of England away from the major cities.
In terms of Agriculture the regional assemblies implimented better deals for their farmers than the English, and the Welsh are currently getting a huge advantage over the English on TB valuations.

Re: Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
Thank goodness we have a Scottish Government which gives some attention to the significance of agriculture to the Scottish economy.
I think that if Scots law ( which by the way , has been maintained separate from English (and Welsh) law since 1707) allows this man`s release ,then that is what should have happened.
He appears to be wired and tubed up now , in a hospital bed in Libya.

Re: Hey Brits, how do you feel about your govt releasing the libyan.
I do agree BB with what you say about the England which is far from the city. Government is for the townie - high fuel tax for us in the country, yet no public transport, and I pay about 1600 quid of rates in order to get my bin emptied.
And about DEFRA. We moan a bit about our lot, but I wouldn't swap them for DEFRA all the same. Don't trouble yourself too much though on the issue of SFP. Its true that you got a worse deal, but it looks like it will all be harmonised per acre across the EU, given time. Then we, with high land cost, poorer weather and land, will be at the permanent disadvantage again.
Perhaps they could have delayed the release until, as Foxleigh said, he was being wheeled out. Perhaps that sounds tough, but would have got less public reaction?
