Re: Flush ideas for my VG86 Outside X Durham X Tobi

I have flushed her to Affirmed and Bolton last year. I have been thinking about Jasper some say Jasper is perfect cross on an Outside. I have also considered Laramie, Goldwyn and Shottle. As far as problems to fix, maybe protect her strength. She was VG86 as a 2 year old, she is fixing to calve back in as a 3 year old and I think she just might go excellent.

Tobi calved on Feb. 1st with a bull, Feb. 26 she gave 124 lbs. on test day. I will be flushing to Jasper for a first choice heifer for the Southern Invitational Sale this April in Perry, Georgia. She will also be classified in April. I will be flushing at least twice maybe three times.

Re: Flush ideas for my VG86 Outside X Durham X Tobi

Hey, mla123
Yes I am from Georgia. I will be showing Tobi in the Southern Invitational show in Perry, Georgia. I also will have a 1st choice future flush by Jasper selling in the sale on April 19th. Tobi is now VG88 with a VG88 Mam. score. Anyone wanting to bid can look at the lots on the Holstein World and go to the 56th Southern Invitational sale, to bid over the telephone just call Conrad Horst before hand. Everyone who can please come to the sale.
           Thanks, Cowmilker

The choice looks interesting. What will Tobi be showing as? I hope to make it to the show but don't know if I will be able to get away from school. I will def be there for the sale looks like a good lineup, the best yet I think. Will you still have Tobi there the day of the sale, I would like to see her

Also cowmilker, have you looked at the Georgia Asc. website? Cassie is doing a good job with it and I think it is well worth it to advertise on their. I will have a page (under Attaway Acres) has soon as we get pictures back from Cybil Fisher.

Re: Flush ideas for my VG86 Outside X Durham X Tobi

mla123, I am going to advertise on the website but with getting ready for the sale and show I haven't had time. Cassie is doing a wonderful job with the website and for the price, everyone that is a Georgia registered breeder should do it. As for Tobi she will be staying for the sale and will be walked throught the ring when her choice sells. Tobi will be in the 4 year old class. As for the sale I was counting yesterday and I think I counted 18 or 19 major league cow families. when you get to the sale look me up.

I agree about the sale it should be real interest especially the way cattle have sold lately. I wish I could have offered some better lots. The show, from what I seen and heard, seems to be promising. As for the work Cassie and Mr. Ronnie and Mr. Conrad its great. They are doing so much for the asc. and all registered breeders in the state. Looking forward to seeing you and Tobi in Perry

How did your Jasper choice from Outside Tobi sell? I wouldn't mind getting into that Tobi family as I think the components are a big plus.

Re: Flush ideas for my VG86 Outside X Durham X Tobi

The Jasper choice brought $3100, I was a little disappointed with that. I am not well known yet so I am paying my dues. I have someone interested in a Shottle choice also so I am getting a little more known. Cowtown Outside Tobi's numbers are CTPI+ 1595, Type+ 2.67, Udder+ 2.32, FLC+ 2.36, PL+ 3.6. Thanks for the feedback, Steven.

Ouch. That seems really cheap. Not a fan of Jasper, but I would have thought she would have brought more than that.

You said this cow would be reclassified in April. How did she score? her sire stack and ctpi still seem pretty impressive. you'll have to post when you consign more out of her to sales. If your interested in calves to show from this family would you considor Aspen. I have been impressed with my Aspen calves so far and this family (Tobis) has an impressive looking young bull named Turbo who is a Aspen son. The mating might not add much as far as ctpi goes but I don't think you will be too disappointed in the show ring.

Re: Flush ideas for my VG86 Outside X Durham X Tobi

Tobi is now scored VG 88 with a very VG 88 udder. She was flushed yesterday to Jasper and I got 19 #1 embryos. I was pleased considering she is giving over 100 lbs. of milk. I am going to set her up and flush atleast one more time this lactation, I have someone wanting a Shottle but not desided if I want to do a flush to him. I think Shottle is one of the great bulls of all time, I just don't think it's a great cross on Tobi. I am looking at maybe Goldwyn, Atlas, Boliva and maybe even Jasper again. I will probally consign something else this year if it is a good enough sale. I will also take interest on private treaty if going to a good herd that can help me get my genetics more publicity. Thanks for your interest in my cow.
