Good match besides Talent for Advent..

I have a heifer bred to Talent, she is an AdventXRedmarkerXIntegrity due about March 1st. Curious what other bulls are a good match for Advent. I am not concerned if it isn't red, or RC.

This heifer is showing promise with her udder, nice high udder, wide, teat placement looks good (ideal). Sure she has a few weeks to go, but I doubt she changed much (quality). What I would like to improve her in would be to add a little slope to her rump, and clean her neck up. She has tons of depth, a lot of rib, and her legs are straight (side/rear)..

Thanks,

Jeff

Talent makes three crosses to Blackrose very close up.

If your springer has a heifer calf, you could name it.

Re: …

Prefix is different, and I use greek names, and would likely start with an R (stay with the dam's first letter).

Still waiting for an answer, what other sires are a good match for Advent?

Re: …

Dundee is a god match on Advent, but I wouden't use him with Redmarker that close. To short neeks. What about Debonair-Red (Talent x Scientific Durham Debutante)

Actually using Damion would yield more inbreeding. That would be something that Buckeye would use (I've seen him reccomend Damion). He has an inbreedin coef of 15.2% per dairybulls.com. Using a bull knowing he has been inbred (linebreeding is the fancy name), isn't wise.. No offense towards ghz..

This heifer I did look back with Redmarker/Integrity and Advent. There is a fair amount of Blackstar. However Talent is a bit further away from being close, take a look for yourself..

However I do remember seeing a chart somewhere, that showed the holstein breed has a ton of blackstar influence. I beleive 60% or so of the bulls have blackstar somewhere.

Now looking back with Damion as well, he has some Starbuck influence, if you dig behind either redmarker or integrity (one of the two), there is some starbuck influence there as well.

Either way, the tinderbox is Damion, and other bulls that are being inbred (linebred). The only bull I liked that has been suggested thus far is that Talent from Scientific Durham Debutante. However, he is too young still. If he can maintain his parental proof, that will be a nice bull for Advents, and others. We'll see..

Good match besides Talent for Advent..

Sometimes, Jeff I wonder about you. Also this has been annoying me for some time. You have the word "Lose" misspelled in your signature and have had it misspelled for as long as you have had it. You can't "loose", seems to imply you not be allowed to go running in a field somewhere.

I would not use Damion on a Advent. Don't try to think what I would do and present it as fact. Because you will not be right.

I posted more info but I have deleted after seeing your other post.

Good match besides Talent for Advent..

well icant decide wether you need dairy or strength so I would look for a bull that goes right down the middle ie.balenced.if your talent calf throws the wrong way its going to be a shocker hence buckeyes comments.of course advent is a kite from a durham so that has 2 of the most popular bloodlines around close up.Id be looking at prominent cow families I liked and then their sons.

Re: Good match besides Talent for Advent..

I changed the spelling, I hadn't noticed it.. Must have been a typo, but its been quite a while since that signature was added.

The heifer has plenty of dairy strength. Her frame is decent, F&L as well. She more or less needs improvement in her rump (bit more slope)

Re: Good match besides Talent for Advent..

We have a few advents and I was asking the classifier this week what he thought crossed the best on them and without hesitation he recomended Fortune. He said it doesnt matter if they are red or not Fortune is the way to go.

I still think that they are going to be great cows but if tall ultra dairy cows are what you like you are going to be dissapppointed.
