Re: …picture

Glyn lucas sent it to me. Are you her current owner? Is she in her third now?Should go Excellent if she is.
My avator picture is her 92 point Rudolph sister, I have 3 straws of Goldwyn ready to flush her with later this summer.
The Mascot is still alive and well at 12 1/2 although she is not producing anything. The Lucente was the only calf from her last succesful flush.

If you're the owners of the cow and want publicity why join Cowtalk under a name that tells the rest of the world watching nothing about who you are?

Re: Lucente X Mascot

Probably wouldn't take much working out anyway. Just searching the herd prefix and Lucente on HUKI would narrow it down fairish.

I agree that it would be nice to have been told/asked before posting a pic if I owned the cow. BUT, having had sheep pics copied from my website onto others a few times, I also agree that no publicity is bad publicity. emoticon

Useful cow Mark. I know the presentation/management makes one hell of a difference for a photo, but I would always give majority credit to the breeder. emoticon

Apologies for any offence caused.I was sent a photo of a cow I bred that I am proud of and by a bull that got a lot of stick on here at the time I used him.I never dreamt it would be a problem to post it on here.

I frequently use a photo of a Lucente I bred and sold, Wyevalley Dellias Destiny VG-2y (PLI+£208), that I am equally as proud of. It has never entered my head that her owner might prefer me not to publicise her, perhaps I ought to check !!!

1) you just got publicity !
2) you just missed the boat!
you couldve told us who she is, what she has produced and who her progeny are.You could have told us she is avalible to be flushed/has embryos for sale.
Instead you whinge about a nice picture of a cow being posted.
Now you will be remebered for all the wrong reasons

Re: Lucente X Mascot

I'm not sure how the rest of the civilized world works, but in Canada, the rights to the photo belong to the photographer. When a picture is taken we sign an aggreement, don't ask me what is in the agreement, I've never taken the time to read it. What I do know is that a substantial amount of money is paid by A.I. companies, and the like, to use photos in advertising. Don't quote me on this but I think it's something like $800.00 paid to the photographer, not a sniff of it goes to the owner of the animal. The owner I suppose should be kicking up his heels at the opportunaty of some potential free advertising, rather than have the picture rot away in a drawer somewhere.
Besides, if the owner of Ashlyn or any other famous cow for that matter, was notified everytime her picture was being used, they would be some squirrelly.
Furthermore, not to take anything away from the cow pictured, cause she is a decent enough cow, but I just happen to have a field full of decent enough cows that are for sale and quite affordable.

Well, if you lived over here, with cow prices as they are, a field FULL of "decent enough" cows like that one would be anything but "quite affordable"!!!

That statement is quiet a controdiction!?!? First you complain about NOT getting publicity from that photo, then you complain about not being told before you get FREE publicity (of a sort, as we still dont know who you are!!!) then you pass on an opertunity to tell us all about your cow, her progeny, your herd or even who you are!!!
You must be the first Irishman to not want to take an opertunity to advertise your herd for free!!!

The family is breeding really well for us.I sold a Goldwyn to a neighbour as a yearling which has calved down and is fairly special by all accounts.(ie a tadge below average in mayjay's herd)

Me too. Some people have no sense of humor. Actually the field isn't full of cows, there happens to be room for some ground hogs. Lucky me, just happened to sell fifteen head this week.
