Re: Fieldhouse Redlou
As a cattle breeder, from the moment one of your best cows has a heifer calf by a bull you picked, you are pleased and if it looks good, you might just hope it turns into a show calf. If it continues to look good you might even dare to dream that it will be a show cow, or even the next James Rose. 9,999 times out of a 10,000 you will be disappointed, but the interest and the dreams make you want to try again next time.
Its just the same if you have a bull, you're judging the calves from when they hit the deck (I'm really pleased with our Delight DJ daughters even though none have calved yet).
So, in defence of Mayjay, he is just showing his interest and enthusiasm by commenting on Redlou's first two daughters - if it were my bull (or one I was selling) I would be pretty pleased and interested with a start like that, even though there is no guarantee that every other daughter will not classify Poor thereafter.

I currently sell Foundation in Northern Ireland, although there are changes in the UK, and I am not sure where I stand, at the minute.
I have sent some Foundation semen to the Republic, but it has to go under 'Special Licence' and takes about 6 weeks from order to having it on farm. The Licence costs 57 euro, so that has to be added to any order.
Previuosly I have sent Wedgwood Laramie and Dupasquier carisma to breeders in the south.
So what your saying is it's a real pain.
Strange that there is no dealer in the South.

Re: Fieldhouse Redlou
The system was created by the ICBF and the Irish AI companies to make it difficult for imports, unless they are a 'star', or sold by the existing companies.
the 57 euro allows the import of up to 200 straws.
For widespread use, it costs around 800 euros for a licence. So when a new sire comes out, there is the difficult choice of do you spend the 800, or wait and see if there is sufficient demand.
Alright for Goldwyn, say, but what about a bull that only suits a percenatge of the market, like a red sire.
I know Semex always struggled to decide which bulls to licence, and which to leave.
Also, the EBI system doesn't exactly suit the kind of bulls that Foundation are testing.

Re: Fieldhouse Redlou
That pedigree could work to give some stregth to the all the Durham and Leduc blood out there. As well as the Goldwyn blood coming down the pike. Of course, if the Red Marker and Lindy come through he could kill a few cows too.

Fieldhouse Redlou
you havnt looked back far enuf.....there is also quality ultimate and a citation son.I wont use this bull as I dont care for talent but....Im punting there will be more VG daus as quite a few better known canadian prefixes have used this bull and there are also qwuite a few ets listed as his progeny.
I actually quite like the cow family..... aside from all the flushing there are lots of GP and VG daus that are by a wide varity of sires and it appears to be both prolific and longlivid. If this bull comes up there is a fair chance she will have more sons enter AI and maybe I'll like one of them better.
