Baxter Heifer to flush

Bickleygate Lady Baxter

Baxter X Comestar Model Liz Boliver X Comestar model leiza Outside X Comestar Model Lady (Rudolph) X Comestar Laurie Inspiration X Laurie Sheik

As you can see she has a great sire stack for health traits and direct from the Laurie Shiek family. She has a full brother at Genus and one going to Cogent.

She is a functional heifer and is well grown. If anything she is narrow in the pins although she has a nice slope to them.

I want to keep the health traits and use a sire that will be a popular sire of sons.

An Oman son is the logical place to start but not sure which.

Freddie, Man-O-Man, Bogart, McCormick, Bronco, and Les (Bret x Manfred) may work on your heifer and are being used as sires of sons.

Re: Baxter Heifer to flush

I would want to use a bull with milking daughters for the flush and then perhaps use a genomic proof polled bull to get her in calf to ( Signif or Mitey).

Looking long term it would be nice to avoid O Man blood to maintain a unique pedigree but it is difficult to get passed his sons at the moment.Even Les is out of a Manfred dam.

I tried to get some Freddie in the spring but he doesn't qualify for the EU (suprise suprise)

Mark, finding something that is not related to your heifer without Manfred blood is tough. Maybe Pennymaker (Lancelot X Aaron) might work, although I am not a fan of his pedigree. Great health traits and functional type, with plus components. I know he is being used as a sire of sons currently by ABS.

Hi Christof

The Boliver gave 2-01 13,917kg 4.3% 3.5%

She also has a Baxter son at Semex and her Bolton daughter has calved at 2-00,is VG and making a huge yield.
