Re: Baxter Heifer to flush

Depending on how many eggs she makes I would consider serving her to Mitey P but I really want more reliability for a flush sire.

Mark ,

You can see the genomic numbers of the Boliver on CDN and from her Baxter son also.

Maybe it will help in your decision making.

I am just assuming that you don`t have yet the Baxter`s genomic numbers.

I think a Ramos son will be a good fit for Baxter .

What about maestro, current no 1 in your country i believe?. If you can overlook his cv status ,it is a pedegree that will be a bit different. Perhaps a brave move ,but maybe worth considering. We have used him and got 3 hfs about 6 mts old, very thrifty, easy to rear calves.

Laudan would be a high reliability, CVM free alternative to Maestro.

Another interesting German bull is Cassano (Champion x Convincer) also availale from Bullsemen.com and no, I dont work for them before you ask! He has a pretty useful looking proof with a decent score for rump width if that's an area you're looking to improve.

As an outside choice for the genomic cross, what about Jet Bowser (Jet Stream x Shottle) from ABS? I'm not sure if he even qualifies for Europe; his sire didnt, but was Jocko's best son in the US and died before he really made a name for himself so did not receive widespread use as a sire of sons.

Does ABS also have a Jet Bowser? I know Accelerated has one (LAESCHWAY JET BOWSER-ET) and he is a Jet Stream X Boliver. Not sure if you are talking about the same bull or not.

Re: Baxter Heifer to flush

Bowser is Jestream X Boliver, not Shottle. He is going to be agreat bull though based on his proof and his unique outcross pedigree. another genomic bull I would consider, if you could get him, is Ronelee toystory Doimain, Toystory X Oustide X Rudolph that is the #3 TPI bull and is different from most highly ranked TPI bulls. He is 4 points on type and 800 on NM. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to post a link, but he is owned by Trans-America Genetics Service.

Re: Baxter Heifer to flush

My mistake re Jet-bowser and with Boliver as MGS I guess he's not an option

Interesting pedigree nonetheless

Thanks for the correction guys....I'll get my coat...

FYI, talked to my Accelerated Rep today and Bowser had an infected testicle or something that affected his semen output. Not easy to get and expensive as hell.

No not yet! I haven't brought any recips in yet as the weather here is so good. They will need to be in off grass for a few weeks before they are worth using.I'd rather wait for them so that I can transfer any eggs freash.

I'm leaning towards Bogart at the moment.
