Question for Europeans or people who know European cow families.

Yesterday we bought a heifer out of a cow family that was imported from Germany via embryos. The matron of the cow family is Donnovan Shiek Gloriette, a shiek that was scored "EX 94 GBR". Supposedly, this cow family has had bulls in stud in Germany. I was just wondering if any of you recognize this cow? Can you tell me a little about the family?

Hi Jeash,

my father-in-law imported a daughter of this Sheik (Hayleys Starbuck Gloriette)from the UK to Germany which turned out to be one of her best daughters. Starbuck Gloriettes three most popular daughters where sired by Cleitus. Several descendants where sold internationally. Bonatus (Blackstar x Cleitus) was the heaviest used bull in Germany for two or three years and has about 95,000 daughters in his proof. He was known for siring type and protein with not too much milk.
You can see some pictures of this family if you look on http://www.rzb-derboven.de. Then click on "Kühe" below and then on "Gloriette" on the left side. If you click on the cows names you can see some pictures and records. I`m sorry, but its only available in German at the moment and there are only a few family members on the website...

There are also many other subbranches of this family in Europe(mainly in the UK) descending directly from the Sheik. You can view the pedigree on Holstein UK:
http://ukcows.com/holsteinUK/publicweb/AnimalData/data/ASFemalefs.asp?AnimalID=2586220

What is the pedigree of your heifer and where did you buy it?

Re: Question for Europeans or people who know European cow families.

She is a Rampage out of New-Topp Linjet Gladys(88pts)X 280 Gondola(90pts) X Glorinette (ex92) X Glorriette. They had a couple different lots out of the family and the pedigrees dont exactly match up between the lots so there might be a Broker in there too. We will see when we get the pedigree. The consignor was Edward Broeckx from Michigan, I believe that he is originally from Belgium. We bought her in the northern Indiana Promotional Sale.
