Re: Classification results
Classified today.
EX92 2E Journalist, our best individual to date.
One EX91 2E Leader and one EX91 3E (Pamela).
One new excellent.
3 VG 2yrs. 86 (equalling our best) and 85 by Milkstar, 85 by Talent that makes 10 generations VG or EX from the Sleepy Hollow Echo family.
1 heifer down at 76 points (Maco Scotty), all the rest 81 points or better. The Scotty's mother and sister both started out plain and turned out OK but I don't rate this one to follow that.
Other highlights were new VG's at 7 and 13 generations VG or EX.

BB, I am surprised that your Winchester did not gain a point. What were the classifier's comments about the cow?

Brookvilla Jasper Aka recently scored Ex 92 points. Maximum she can go for her age. She's at Jim Butler's in Illinois. Bred by us.

Classified today, delighted with results, much better than I thought it would go. 97% GP or better, You'd nearly think the whole herd was off of Fieldhouse Redlou!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Classification results
I'm so excited! I had my first cow go VG today. My parents own a commercial farm but last year I started buying pedigreed animals and a red Regiment 2 year old I bought went VG 85. She is out of five generations of excellent. I was really worried because for a while all the classsifier mentioned were her legs, which are quite hocked in. Although he gave her legs only a 78 her body and udder were still strong enough to go 85!

Re: Classification results
Had the classifier today.
- 4 new EX (all at 90 points) (2 x Derrydorragh Lord Nelson, Matfield Leadoff, Moyrah Mischief)
- Of 4 existing EX, EX93(4E)(Matfield Leadoff), EX92(2E)(Comestar Lartist), 2 gained another point making them EX91(2E) (Haldrey Leadership & Moyrah Mischief)
- 4 x VG88 (Moyrah Mischief, 2 x Derrydorragh Lord Nelson, Matfield Leadoff) -
- 4 x VG87 (Stardale Saphire, Oatlands James, 2 x Derrydorragh Lord Nelson)
- 2 x VG86 (2 x Derrydorragh Lord Nelson)
- 3 x VG85 (Derrydorragh Lord Nelson, Matfield Leadoff, Ridgefield Epic)
- 2 x GP83 (Derrydorragh Lord Nelson)
- 1 x GP82 (Derrydorragh Lord Nelson)
(all 2nd calvers +)
- Of 14 heifers;
- 2 x GP84 (Lecale Daffer, Ridgefield Epic)
- 4 x GP83 (3 x Derrydorragh Rory, Ridgefield Epic)
- 2 x GP82 (Derrydorragh Rory, Ridgefield Epic)
- 2 x GP81 (Derrydorragh Rory, Lecale Daffer)
- 1 x GP80 (Ridgefield Epic)
- 2 x G79 (Lecale Daffer, Derrydorragh Rory)
- 1 x F74 (Derrydorragh Rory)
That leaves the whole herd at:
8 EX, 18 VG, 26 GP, 3 G, 2F & 3 NC
(Total 60)
Average score of 57 classified = 84.3
Guess who's chuffed?!

Re: Classification results
We classified recently as well.
Two new homebred excellents (one is in the avatar and another went multiple.
A clatter more VGs.
Highlights:
A real family favourite went 86 7 days fresh on her second.
2 3rd calvers went VG who I felt had been underscored in the past- they each jumped up 6 or 7 points.
Clipping/cleanliness seemed to make no difference.
I'm very happy with the result though I had 3 hefiers unfit due to a digital dermatitus flare up.

How did the white heifer that was discussed in the other thread get on. She was by a cogent bull i think?

One of the unfit heifers I'm afraid. It's funny those heifers were in with the cows for 4 months before they calved and never had any sign of digital dermitus as soon as they hit peak milk and hear of a classifier coming.....
Her first test at 27 days was 32.8kg at 4.76 fat and 3.16 protein. Doing a bit more now she's on grass 24 hr. The two Cogent Obuts that did make the classifier both got VG.
My 4 Obuts are very productive heifers, but not ones for a 365 day calving interval.

Re: Classification results
classified last saturday
8 ex, 7 new ones and one ex91-3e donay
4 ex 3rd calvers. (one of the ex 3rd calvers was one of my own that i bought as a maiden, makes my herd 2 ex 3rd calvers and 1 vg 2yr old out of 3 milking not a bad start!)
12 vg cows
3 vg 2yr olds by samuelo, allen and goldwyn.
zeniths are disappointing, very frail!
