Re: Classification results
Possibly only of interest to the Majestic men.
I claassified on the 11th got an Ex92 3E by Locust hill Star Balance,an Ex90 Aeroline and her Igniter daughter to Vg85 2Yr old.
They all trace back to Derrydorragh Ethereal Katy which i bought because they couldn't get her halter trained for Portadown.
My other 3 Ex's are,1 from the Derrydorragh Jill family and 2 from the Sweetlady family which i now call Chrissy.

Congratulations on your BAA that is really high.
How on earth did you get a Manat, was there a mix up in a semen delivery sometime? I thought Manat would be the last bull you would use!

Re: Classification results
We had the privilege of having John Gribbon classify the cows on Friday afternoon. It is always an education talking to John about cows.
We had a great day.
Our top score was 94 points for a 5th calve Rudolph, we had 2 third calvers score 92 points (including our Stardale purchase), another 5th calve Rudolph also scored 92. We had a Lee we purchased as a calve from Ridgefield go 91, also excellent was a Storm, a daughter of Dellia's Blackstar son (whose escapes me right now) and an Addison.
We had 2 89 point 2nd calvers, the Freeman that we had at the National and a Storm and another 2 2nd calvers go 88 a Convincer and a daughter of an Aaron son from John Hodgsons Martha family.
We also had 3 87 point heifers, a Rubens, a Cevis and an Outside from our Chief Mark Fran cow. The Outside is a heifer that I haave high hopes for, she is a proper heifer with a real tight udder that should make a really nice cow (Mark, she is not unlike the Gremlin heifer you sold at the X Factor sale). We had a further 4 86 point heifers, a Gibson, a Figaro, an Astronomical and an Emerson daugter of Bellwood Milly.
The Emerson's full brother who is 3 1/2 year old also scored EX. John thought he was big for his age and said it was rare for a bull his age to go EX.
It was really satisfying to see he offspring of Milly and Fran do well as we have a lot of faith in their potential.

Re: Classification results
Well done craig. What age does john expect a bull to reach his height then, or was it general maturity he was talking about?

Re: Classification results
Classified today, 4EX, 8VG including 3 VG 2yrs. All homebred on this occasion, which was pleasing.
Very decent second calver by what was our first homebred bull made VG87.
One of the EX cows was dam of one of the VG 2yrs.
Other 2 VG 2yrs were ET full sisters off of an EX cow descended from Maplewood Sheik Betsy. Her other natural daughter here is a VG second calver, and there were 2 more VG daughters elsewhere, so hopefully developing a decent family here.
Takes us to 50% VG or EX, and 90 % GP or better, with well over half the herd currently first or second calvers.

FOAF, I never actually asked John that. So I don't know. I think he was talking about both height and general maturity. He said our bull had more rib than most of his age but you would want him with more than he currently has.

The budjon bulls were a disappointment and I thought the heifers were all lucky to score as well as they did.
I just looked up our BUDJON-JK ELECTRAFIED heifers there is one classed on F-74 and one fresh and a younger heifer they are all disapointing and are a long way worse than their mothers probally one of the worst bulls that i have used, they were corrective mated to cows that were suggested to mate to integrity so that makes it worse and Integrity has one of the best fresh heifers that we have.

How old are the Lucentes?
27-28months calved between 23and 27 months of age.

Yes .. theres somewhere around 25 of them here. They wont make the biggest of cows but expect virtually all to end up VG as cows.

Classification results
Will, you look as if you use a lot of young bulls. What percentage of young bull to proven bull semen do you use? Have you been happy with the results from your young bull offspring?

Just started using Lucente, perhaps a bit late in the day, but he looks a good buy at £10. Been told to watch for his feet & legs, is that right?
Feet and legs are fine. Locomotion is good, set is slightly straight, foot angle is positive and foot shape is good. Never had to trim 1 yet.

%age young bull has been as high as 80 here but probably less than 20% now, results very similar to those from proven bulls but longevity on these test bull daughters appears to be far higher have also seen similar results in a couple of other herds.
