Re: Crazy conversations

It is not so.

In Italy we imported a lot of Durham and BW Marshall ETS, no doses at all.

Nope, not here. I was told that they weren't going to clone him because they had such a large supply of semen already collected on him. Who knows though. We do have his full sister here.

Re: Crazy conversations

Talking with Frank Regan, I undestood that the problem were the money.

Select Sire wouldn't like to pay extra money to clone him and I think Regan sold cloning Royalties to Alta.

Which full sister do you have?

Re: Crazy conversations

99% of the time, it is the policies of the IMPORTING country, that determan what can, and what can not, be imported. 99% of the time it involves a great deal of politics. Have they not proven leukois, is not trasmitted through semen? so whats the problem there? Same with blue tongue, thought it could not survive a cold climate, so why can't that semen come to Canada? There is a TON of red tape involved in all of this, for sure, but I hardly think, some of the bulls mentioned are not exsported, on purpose.

Re: Crazy conversations

Do you know how import rules work in Italy?

Anafi should give ok to the Helth and Care Minister, to allow them to import them.

Re: Crazy conversations

I know a little back ground on Durham and BW Marshall. So lets not let the facts get in the way of inuendo. Durham was a lifelong leukosis carrier. He was housed in a seperate barn, along with the Jersey bull Beretta, for most of his adult life. BW Marshall was always banged up or hobbled. I understand that he made a few trips to the Ohio State Vetrinary Hospital. I believe they almost lost him after he was first released back in 2000, to a serious hip injury. It would not surprise me if his immune system would have been compromised as well so as to allow him to contract some inert disease that would seriously cut his export markets.

US studs love to sell semen overseas because they can charge top dollar for it.

Re: Crazy conversations

RDC - I will find out this week just what the protocall is for Italy to import embryos from Canada if you like. It will be extremely detailed and too much to simply write on here, I would have to fax it to you.

Re: Crazy conversations

Or you could send it by mail.
Anyway I repeat Anafi should approve every embryo coming in.
