Laurie Shiek is Dead!!!
She passed away at 17 years and 4 months. But the cool thing is they flushed her once more before she died. She produced one Embryo a sexed male by no other then Talent. Would that not be great if it was RC` And went on to empact the red breed where it needs to go, with great type and production?

Re: Laurie Shiek is Dead!!!
How long will it be for another cow like her to impact the breed like she did? :sa Would have loved to have owned a little share in her.

Re: Laurie Shiek is Dead!!!
Pretty incredible the impact she and her offspring have had on the breed over the past years. Going to Amlkman's point, how long before we get another Laurie Sheik, I dont think that any cow will be as much of an impact as her but if some of Budjon Jk's bulls hit the big time, the Elegance family could do a great deal for the breed.

Re: Laurie Shiek is Dead!!!
Perhaps some genetic expert can tell us. If Laurie Shiek's last calf is a bull, would his use be a determent to the breed because his dam was born in the '80's, or would his "modern" sire save him from old genetic discounting?
Ivory Tower reasoning never ceases to amaze me.

Re: Laurie Shiek is Dead!!!
Hey everyone, long time no chat (only just remembered my login password!). Yeah thats a shame that Laurie Sheik is dead!Someone said will any other cow be able to come close to her in terms of impact. What about Braedale Gypsy Grand? Will she be the successor breeding daugthers such as Braedale Baler Twine, Braedale Ault and Braedale Cheetah and sons and grandsons eg. Freelance,Freeman,Spy,Charge,River etc?!

If where gauging her on her 1st two Proven sons (EXHIBIT and EXPO)I would have to say lets pass her by as a High Impact Cow of the breed.
