I think a local bull here Air-osa Quickshot!Great first calvers the on second calf there udders were so blown out that you couldn't get the teat cups on.

I guess the all time undisputed leader in blown udders was the ABS bull, Westside A B Seaman, a son of Searsfarm Dean Ada Imperial.
He was greatly hyped by the stud as a great milk bull,(which he was for one lactation). Just before his type proof and the truth came out, ABS ran semen sale ads on this wonderful milk bull. And they sold a bunch of semen.
I doubt if you will find him in any of today's pedigrees. The daughters only lasted one lactation.

Lots of examples of disasters from every AI company. However, I think the worst ones are those that were sold with intent to deceive.
I do not believe this has ever happened with a farmer owned cooperative - only from private individuals, private syndicates or private companies.
Leadfield Columbus and DT Queensmanor Marksmen were two of best documented in USA. In UK our most recent breeder proven sire to drop was Rosparry Thor - but is only one of many. Another one is selling in the UK right now. But they have been to see them or seen the video - when will they learn. There is also a well known one selling from Canada!
They give AI a bad name. And thats a shame because the farmer owned AI cooperative companies of the world are genuinely trying to find the best of all the bulls they sample. These breeder proven sires are sometimes deliberately manufactured proofs. Problem is that even genuinely proven sires with honest intentions can sometimes drop.
other factor is that actually some breeder proven sires have been breed leading sires - sorting the wheat from the chaff is the biggest problem.
I guess a lot comes down to trust. Do you trust the owner of that bull to be honest and include all records, not to ship daughters and contempories around, not to make preferential matings and preferential treatment. If not - don't touch it with a barge pole. They can make a one point type sire into a 3.5 type sire.

bob hardy- when you say "well known one from Canada" would assume you mean Champion. Not sure if you done your homework on this bull, looks like a fairly random proof, and his 2nd crop calves are turning some heads.
Not saying he won't drop bad, it can happen,
and you can disslike him, and think he is the next Fred, but to think they are selling him with the intent to decieve you, is a very, very bold statement.
