Re: Local daughter pictures

Any docked tail cows in photos I have posted on cowtalk were taken in the USA. There is no tail docking locally. Herd is on twenty fours ryegrass at the moment, not much fun if you have excitable cows and are a milker in a narrow swingover pit. Sailors of course do not startle, take life in their stride and hence last longer. emoticon

Silky uddered Oman daughter belonging to a colleague of mine.

And her red Advent heifer calf. She has quite a unique pedigree covering ever facet of Holstein breeding: Advent-Red x Oman x Morty x Tulip-Red x Carlin (locally proven Bell x Elevation son.)

The Oman is making 34 kgs a day and yes the Advent is her first calf.

Advent calves have impressed me where ever I see them, but I take that with a pinch of salt, I thought Derry calves were the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Re: Local daughter pictures

Looks a decent enough young cow everything is in the right place for her to grow on and develop into a long lasting profitable dairy cow.

I wouldnt turn her away from the yard if she broke over the neighbours fence either!
She's going to be around for a while. She is great in the area that most Omans fall down.
