That is one of the better uddered Omans I have seen. I bet she continues to improve 2nd and 3rd calf. Certainly would love to have her in my barn.

Feed is gong to be short for us this winter and we are going to be cutting from the bottom this week. None of the cows that are leaving look like that.
My fat Terrason arrogantly says "I am taller, longer, have a better udder, and made 13,000 in 290 days." I cut her some slack because she had a pair of dead twin bulls at calving and nearly croaked. Now she is fat and 50 days pregnant, milking 25lbs. Meanwhile, my short, nobby Wizard daughters are kicking the crap out of their contemporaries. They are small in stature and short bodied. Yet they have good udders and are efficient.
When feed supplies are short, and milk price is falling, decisions aren't based on pretty.

Why don't you like that O-man, Posal? If she looks like that, milks OK, survives and gets in calf, 99.9% of dairymen would be delighted with a cow like that - even though she would never win a show.

Its funny you say that about Wizard Buckeye. When I first started calving our Wizards in as two year olds I hated the bull with a passion. Now that they are second and third lactation I have gained alot of respect for the bull and have even thought about using some sexed semen by him.

Being able to breed commercially viable animals is the future of the Holstein breed.
I for one would be delighted to have that Oman in my herd if she was a productive and healthy animal.
