Third calvers from Stilist at CR Delta Cow-Expo (Press Release)
Delta Stilist, the bull who breeds the ideal cow for the cost conscious dairy farmer, is expected to pull a large crowd to the CR Delta Cow-Expo progeny showcase in Zwolle. A total of eight progeny groups will be shown at this event, where Stilist and four other bulls will make their debut, with three of them being brand new bulls that emerged from the November proofs.
The progeny showcase is always one of the highlights of a CR Delta Cow-Expo. Farmers like to see the daughters of bulls with their own eyes to know what they can expect when using them. At the CR Delta Cow-Expo, which will be held on the 20th of January 2006 in Zwolle, eight very interesting progeny groups will be paraded around the show ring. Among these eight there are five bulls whose daughters have never been shown in public before. Three bulls will present their second crop daughters, with one of those also making his debut as his first crop daughters have never been on display. Also scheduled is a group of second calvers by Delta Canvas RF, whose first lactation daughters left a great impression at this summer’s CR Delta Cow Expo in Den Bosch.
Cows for the cost conscious
Although his first proof came out in November 2003, never before has a progeny group by Delta Stilist (Novalis x Cash) been shown to the public. His daughters are wearing extremely well and will demonstrate on the 20th of January why their sire has obtained such a high score for durability (108). No less than 82% of Stilist’s daughters are still milking, two years after they’d calved for the first time. This is 15% more than the number of daughters still milking from an average bull at that stage.
Since his release, this Top DPS-sire who breeds the ideal cow for the cost conscious, has enjoyed extreme popularity among commercial dairy farmers because of his solid production proof and attractive figures for health and workability traits. It is pretty special for a progeny group consisting of cows that have had three calvings to be shown. Stilist is unique in the fact that he will make his very first appearance with a group of third calvers.

High news value
In addition to Stilist, the progeny showcase has high news value with the display of daughters by three brand new sires that have emerged from the November proofs. Among these is new red and white type specialist Mister Metallica (C ocktail 17 x Lord Lily). In the show ring, he has already left his mark, with a reserve junior championship at one of the Dutch summer shows.
The second red and white sire to make his debut is De Grote Pol Gertjan (Lentini x Bell Tom). This son of Lentini attracts attention with his daughters’ good udder health and his fine production proof with a positive fat to protein ratio.
Black and white newcomer Delta Onedin (Cello x Fatal) is a component specialist and originates from HG’s Delta nucleus. Onedin is a strong feet and legs improver who breeds powerful, medium-sized, deep-ribbed cows that keep good body condition.
World-class sire
Delta Canvas RF (Sparta x Celsius) enjoys tremendous popularity all over the world. As the world’s highest red carrier he holds a leading position in many countries. This summer, Canvas already left a great impression at the CR Delta Cow Expo in Den Bosch, where the public saw his first lactation daughters. In Zwolle, HG will parade a group of second calvers by Canvas, which will show how the daughters have developed and how they are wearing.
Second crop achievements
Three bulls will parade their second crop daughters for the first time, and all three of them are still very popular bulls: Himster Grandprix (Lord Lily x Mascot), Kian (Andries x Sunny Boy) and Creyhorst Clor (short name: Creylo; Clara’s Orkan x Pigeonwood). For Creylo, this also means a first appearance as a progeny group by him has never before been on display. Based on their second crop proofs, these bulls have already more than proven their reputation. Will they confirm this in the show ring in January?
Class of Classic
As it isn’t possible to show a ‘classic’ progeny group of Poos Stadel Classic (Stadel x Camera) because of the limited number of cows being in the same stage of lactation, there will be a special stand with yearlings, in-calf heifers and cows in Zwolle. This will allow HG to show the class of Classic to the public.
