New career!

In May I will be starting a new career managing our local Golf Club at Llanymynech.

I will badly miss my friends, the industry, the cows and farm visits but it is the nearest I will ever get to being a Golf Pro (Office next door!!!!)

It is a dream job for me in one of the most beautiful and spectacular places imaginable. The Course is set high on top of a limestone plateau looking out over the Shrophire and Cheshire plains to the east and the Welsh hills to the south and west. I will be able to look from my office out over 40 miles of farmland and keep an eye on whos silaging, letting their cows out or spreading!!

Anyway I will be going to the National in April to say my goodbyes but I will carry on taking a few farm tours just to keep me involved and then there is always Cowtalk!!!

Check out the website:-

Re: New career!

Sorry to hear this Bob, good luck in the next role.

Is this partly due to an unfavorable long term view for agriculture in the UK, or just wanting to spend more time in the nineteenth hole ?

Thanks Alan, I guess its a bit of both!

Any golfers amongst you will have to come and visit - its also a great venue for functions & meetings or just pop in for a meal or a drink when you're passing.I'd love to meet up and learn all the goss!

I can't help but sence this is a Big Loss for Semen World.Theres no doubt your passion for breeding and helping dairy farmers throughout the U.K.will be greatly missed.I only hope they find someone that can fill your void.

I only hope that your new venture is work and your free time can involve a casual interest in the future of dairy genetics with the people you served and here on Cowtalk.

Thanks TOB. I appreciate your kind words and all those from others who have been in touch. I have been quite overwhelmed by the good wishes I have received from all over.

I echo ToB's words Bob, Semen World's loss is golf's gain. All the very best for the future.

emoticon Sorry to hear you are leaving the industry. It is very worrying that people as committed as you are getting out.

Somehow, I think your next job might be a tiny bit easier. I hope you find success in it Bob. All the very best.

Great now who am I going to argue with, guess I'll just have to come and try to beat you at a round of golf now. It just might happen that I'll look this course up some day, as golf is in my blood as well, all the best Bob.

You thought you were rusty being 6 over par?? I'd be happy with that after 5-6 holes.

Re: New career!

Yeh, thats what i was thinking.

By the way, my son got a letter at the weekend from the Welsh Golfing Union, inviting him to join the Junior Welsh Squad for three days in April. I am obviously very excited and shamedly proud.

Now that your occupied at the new job I think It's best to remind you... new proofs come out tommorrow, Monday May 9th.

You probably aren't going to be able to give us early projections but I'd still be interested to hear what you have to say on the new proofs.
