We've had a few more baxter calves, all calved unassissted, although we've only used him on cows none of our virgin heifers get ai'd to him.

Very pleased with calves so far all look decent size and walk well. Not had any monsters yet.

Sorry canuk I wasn't there, just pulled the pic off the Alta website. I like candid (non proffessional pics of cows.)

Canuk, I do believe she is a 2nd calver. We only toured two dairys the day I went so we didn't get to see a whole lot of cows and that was the only Baxter daughter we saw that day. The same dairy had an Armstead daughter that I thought was just as good.

Re: Emerald Acres Baxter

I hate to admit that Alta has a bull I like, but I can not navagate their web site at all.
Everytime I go in there (which is not often)
I just get dizzy with the Alta this, and the Alta that. Spent 10 minutes yesterday trying to find this bloody bull. (several 4 letter words go here)/#!?*&#^!

I had a chance to see many of the Baxter daughters on the Alta Advantage tour in New York last summer. The pic from Smous is definitely not the best one out there. Many of the Baxters have more strength and depth of fore rib then the daughter pictured. Baxter's frame and dairyness is very similar to his sire, Blitz.

Jschefs have you seen any Regancrest Mac daughters in person? If so what was your impression of them and what kind of cow would he work best on? Sorry for being off topic.

We've two calves so far, a heifer and a bull (ET's, mother is a NC Oman, then a VG85-2yr Talent). Both show very much strength. The bull is born blind in two eyes :S . First blind calf born ever in our farm.

Haven't got a chance to see any Mac's in person, but I really wish I could! I used about 20 units of him on the farm. I liked using him on the few O Man's that we have because he'll drastically improve the udders and dairyness while O Man will protect Mac's weak front ends.

Would someone kindly post a link to baxters proof, I seriouly can not pull it up.
The site keeps asking me to select alta cheese, or altaconcep,or whatever it is just rediculous.

Canuk, If you click on "Holstein" at the top of the Alta site to get the list of proven sires then instead of clicking on the bulls name (that gives you his pedigree) click on the number on the extreme right of row of the bull you want to look up. That will take you to his proof page. You can then look up every bulls proof as it converts in various countries.

Oldest one about to breed. Which bulls is everbody mating to their baxters? In my country (Netherlands) we have to be aware of the low components.

I hope the Mac x Baxter mating works out because we have bred most of our Baxter heifers to Mac.

We have some Baxter x Talent youngstock that look decent here.
Think he'll work on the Goldwyn bloodlines for width x udder combo. The Durham sons just may make them a little too big though - depends what you want at the end of the day as we just try to keep the pedigree going the right way with a sound option that's marketable or milkable!

Re: Emerald Acres Baxter

What are the feet like on Baxters? Our Blitz daughters are cracking cows that milk like stink, but they do have a tendency toward soft feet.

Would have thought Zenith or the Shhh bull would be a good cross, that's the two we use over most of our Blitz cows.

Should go for an oman son at the moment, with good health traits and anough protection on the components.
