To-Mar Fortune
What do people think of this bull? He appears to be the #1 conformation bull in Canada and this latest proof run. He still has a limited number of daughters but the pictures of them look pretty nice. He is a Durham x Blackstar our of the Plushanski Faith cow family.

To-Mar Fortune
What is his availability outside of the US? Mark said something about not being able to get him. He sure is a good conception bull as well.

Anyone heard anymore on this bull? His breakdown still interests me as he is a top conformation bull with good health traits and a solid cow family. $28 here in the US but I can get a bigger discount if I purchase 30+ units. What bulls out there would be better at the same price?

I have had 2 BULL calves from him. So far they come out very quickly, almost too quickly, and have been pretty aggressive. I have used him pretty heavily.

Re: To-Mar Fortune
I happen to know the lads that own the highest scoring Fortune in Canada. I`ve never seen her but I will make a point of doing so the next time I`m in. If I were the handsome brother I would convince the others to let me flush her.

To-Mar Fortune
First two born. One out of a cow with high pins. Both have good slope to the rump.

To-Mar Fortune
Got a very tiny Fortune heifer calf this morning. We call it Seabiscuit, because it is very small but likes to run. Our border collie is of equal size. The calving ease is quite good.

Re: To-Mar Fortune
This sounds like the kind of bull we wanted in the thread about calving ease bulls. The calves come out easy and grow big, and calve out easy themselves.

Re: To-Mar Fortune
We now have 2 on the ground. They come out easy, but we have something wrong, because they are above average sized calves. I thought they were supposed to be tiny.

Re: To-Mar Fortune
We have some fortunes on the ground now and they look great. My sister was at the Scotia Bank Classic with one of them. Clearland Fortune Julie. And she looks great. Off age calf but still a real nice calf. All ours have come out unassisted during calfing, average size calves that grow like hell to be big heifers with lots of style and rib and are very agressive calves.

Re: To-Mar Fortune
The fortune calves I've seen are strong calves that just seem to lack a bit of style. I would definately make sure i used him over longer stretchy cows because he seems to have left them a little bit dumpy here, they aren't ugly calves, just lacking a bit of show style which will hopefully come to them when they calve down.
The other thing is our fortune calves were a real pain to rear, the slowest calves in the shed to take to the artificial teat, and took a couple weeks longer than the other calves to realy find their own in the calf shed

Re: To-Mar Fortune
we've had 2 heifers so far. I didn't find them difficult to get started at all. They weren't as small as most people are saying. They came out a little above average for size and seem to just keep growing. For the most part i agree with the style comment. They seem to lack dairyness throung their rib that makes them look un stylish. Good calves though.

Just started to have some of my first FOrtunes hit the ground. They look like pretty solid calves so far. Very satisfied with their legs and more strength and depth then other calves born the same time. Anyone else have more info on him as your calves get older or start freshening in?
