Black Feet
An old Freisian breeder once told me look for a bull with black feet as you get less foot problems as their feet are much harder is this true and if so can anybody tell me bull that leaves heifers with black feet!
We seem to be breeding to many cows with soft feet,we regularly put them through footbath with formalin but still get to many we have to lift!!

Re: Black Feet
I was told that trait was bred out of US Holsteins a long time ago because it was considered "off-color". Our hoof trimmer has alwasy claimed that black footed animals have harder feet too.

Yes it's true, thats why the Jerseys have such healthy and strong feet. Its part of the reason why they are so popular in New Zealand, they can walk large distances with little wear.
