I would consider it more trickery and BS by hyping a bull and showing PA numbers at 35-40% reliability then showing Genomic numbers at with 65% reliablity.
A 20% spread in the two numbers is HUGE in my opinion.
Like JEB12 already stated. Look for a group of young bulls you like based on pedigree, find the genomic proof that looks the best to your liking and pick that bull.

Of cause using bulls with only PA is as stupid as just genomics.
Problem is lot of people thing that genomics is more relaiable than a real proof.

Genomic Young Sires To Watch

I think 65-70 % is better than 35 % reliability . We need to check bulls with 80% reliability that got a proof august 2008 and they came back really close with their genomic evaluation in jan 2009 . Bulls like Planet , Million , Alexander , Sanchez all came back really close with daughters proofs and genomics proofs. I think it give credibility to that NEW TOOLS that we have to work with .

Where do you find the "cleen" genomic proof on these bull's ?

Re: Genomic Young Sires To Watch

This is a useful tool.It shows the parent average compared to the combined pta whether that be genomic or otherwise.I don't think it shows the clean genomic proof but if it is a young bull you can tell whether the genomic proof is higher or lower than the PA.

Re: Genomic Young Sires To Watch

Yes Mark that tell us, if genomics is higher or lower than PA.

What I would like to compare is, the genomic test with a normal proof, based on actual daughters.

Comparing August 2008 proof with Jan or Apr 2009 tell us nothing about genomics.

That list exists but I am sure that we won't see it. I saw one last summer, and when I relayed some of the information, people on here criticized what I reported like I was crazy. Sanchez was one bull whose genomics were lower than his early proof. With added daughters he has moved higher. You have to realize that Genomics are just a narrowing of the statistical bell curve. I don't have time to post a link but you can find information on genomics and statistical analysis in regards to bull proofs.

Another way of putting it
Bull A with PA PTA has a PTA for Protein of 55 the expected range for his actual value of 20 to 90 pounds of protein. With a genomic proof, that same 55 number may shrink to a range 33 to 77. A saying you teach beginning marksman is "Aim small, miss small".

I'm like you sure we will NEVER se that list in public.
I now the fact about genomics, but lot of people keep ignoring facts.
I posted this link before on cowtalk (dont remember where)so here it is again

http://www.cdn.ca/document.php?id=161

It tells you about reliability and you will se this :
"Theoretically, with a 60% Reliability, 10% of all young bulls with a genomic evaluation are expected to have a true LPI that is at least 725 points higher or lower than its estimated GPA for LPI."
