Membership application

Some people have tried to become members of my messageboard. I have the setting up that I have to authorize the applications but I have not gotten any emails about their applications. What should I do?

Re: Membership application

1st Make sure your Board security is set up correctly.

2nd Have you sent yourself a test? Create another Runboard user name for testing and see if you receive the notification or not.

3rd Check your Spam & Trash folders to make sure your PC security settings are not putting them in there.

Re: Membership application

bwaysbaby, unless you have already approved or denied your applicants, then nobody has applied for membership to your board.

It is possible that people may have registered their Runboard accounts and only believe this counts as an application. Tell them to try and make a post at your board while they are logged into their Runboard account, and this will bring up the application screen that they need to submit in order to apply.

Re: Membership application

My problem, which has never been resolved, is that I never get an e-mail sent to my address letting me know someone has applied for membership. All the settings are correct in the security section and none are going to my spam or junk mail folder. The e-mails I do get, however, are continuous reminders that my account is going to be deleted due to inactivity no matter how many times I access my board or post something on it...I usually get these reminders daily...have to go to control panel and remove the flag every time

Re: Membership application

Hi dago,

If you make a post at your board, that will keep the flag away. It keeps getting flagged because the last post was made there on April 23.

Nobody has applied for membership to your board since April 7 or earlier, unless you have denied someone since then. I know this because your last member was added on April 7, and there are currently no applications pending there.

It could be that people are registering with Runboard, but aren't applying for membership to your board afterward. When someone registers with Runboard, it gives them a global Runboard account that they can use on any board on our system, the same way you use dago4 to post at both your board and here.

Runboard has no way of knowing that someone is registering specifically for your board. When that account creation form is submitted, that only tells Runboard to create the user account that they will need before they can apply for membership at your board. They have to actually go to your board after that (while they are signed into their Runboard account) and submit the application for access to your board.

You may or may not already know this, but if someone is telling you that they have applied to your board, they only think they did, and may or may not have even created their Runboard user account yet.
