Note taking ideas
(this idea was "borrowed" from an educator)
"T-notes are the easiest in my opinion. You fold the paper in half. On the left the students write the main idea and on the right the students j.o.t. notes. J.O.T. stands for just one to two words. I always tell my kids with a maximum of three words. To start you might want to provide them with the left side and let them fill in the right side."
(additional ideas)"To add to T-notes. I have my students write a question on the side instead of a main idea. Then on the other side they have to answer the questions using bullets or outline format. The students then have a test study guide at their disposal."
More ideas???

Re: Note taking ideas
This would be a good modification for ELL especially if the left side was filled in for them. You (or another student/peer tutor) might want to work through one set to get them going. After that, most of our ELL students would be capable of completing this on their own. You might even want to give them some points for taking the notes. It would encourage studying and organizing.
