Ritchie in his 60's

I was watching the two Blackmore's night DVD's yesterday just for a glimpse of current Ritchie playing the Strat. What I noticed is that on the castle DVD, he is real into it and bouncing around a little and on the Paris DVD he appears board and very subdued. Maybe because he is getting older, perhaps not - it only has been 2 years in between. I watch these videos from time to time but can only watch the electric songs. While I think Ritchie does play the acoustic well, it is BORING! Candice's singing also gets old quickly and listening to her sing Rainbow songs is ridiculous.

What I would like to know - has anyone seen them this year and how was Ritchie.

man, I wish he would go back and do what he does best! He tours only a few shows a year while DP tours hundreds.

He must be hating this by now! He never in his career stayed with something for this long of a stretch - perhaps that is the reason for so few dates, or music may not be that important to him anymore. But if he gets to John Lord's age and still has not toured one more time electric, what a big disappointment. I think most fans are just waiting for this to blow over and see him with Stat in hand. As much as I would love that, I am beginning to believe that we may never see it again. Probably still be having these posts when he is in his late 60's. Time is running out!

Re: Ritchie in his 60's

He has the ear infection that comes and goes.

Yesterday, he sat on a stool for a considerable part of the show. Late in the show, Candice told RB has acute bronchitis, which explained the stool as well as the fact that they only played for an hour and a half. RB was obviously sorry for the situation and made a point of expressing his gratitude to the resposive crowd by staying quite a while on stage thanking the audience.

In fact, Candy said "isn't RB playing well considering he doesn't really hear anything because the virus"! He surely played great. His picking on Soldier of Fortune was so tender and sublime I suddenly felt a tear rolling down my cheek!

Get over it. Time to move on. You can't controll what Ritchie does. He is not going to be doing rock anymore. He has been "retired" for 10 years. He doesn't need the money.

He doesn't owe anyone anything.

He owe it to himself and his legacy to go out properly! What he's doing now, controlled by Carole Stevens, is a disgrace when you compare him to his past!

Ritchie has never been controlled by anyone. Sometimes I think he is doing to this to show fans they aren't going to controll him either.

Ritchie has had interest in this Neo Renaisance stuff long before Candace and Carole. Just listen to the first Rainbow album.

Do you know the background of the family Stevens? Are they controlfreaks, what was Carole before she became manager etc?
Do they belong to a certain clan?

I agree. I don't buy into this 'henpecked' Ritchie idea either. I just think that disgruntled DP and R'bow fans, disappointed he's not playing rock, just want to blame the people closest to him rather than TMIB.

If he was really that miserable in BN he would have stopped ages ago. He never struck me as being the type to hang about when he wants change. He just goes out and does what he needs to do - sod everyone else! Even his attitude toward BN band members demonstrate that.

Yes, I have some inside information about how Carol Stevens operate. She is very good at hiding things from Blackmore, to put it that way... Like most people, Blackmore is controlable. It's a matter of pushing the right buttons, make deals behind his back etc. C. Stevens may be a c..t (in my book), but she's not stupid!

I wont give up any source for my information since I promised not to, and I got the info by private mails. If the source would go public with his/ hers info, he/ she would have to do it himself/ herself.

I know that Ritchie has been interested in medival music since an early age, but that's not an excuse to put out all the crap he is doing today. It has got nothing to do with real medival music. It's pop influenced by medival music and disco. If it weren't for his name, absolutely no one would pay attention.

You'll find traces of medival music on almost all his recording over the years, especially in his soloes but also in his use of chord progressions. The difference is that he used to do it with finesse. Now he's become a complete sell out and do NOT make high quality music anymore. He's a has been!!
