 Some Help Required
Sorry Rez, if this is in the wrong site. But I need some help.
I am writing a book on the recruitment industry at present - mainly about employment business recruiters who place office workers. I need to understand fully what an 'artists' agent actually does, by way of comparison, to an employment business recruiter who doesn't charge a work finder a fee. Has anyone ever been an 'agent' for an artist or, if not, understands it fully?
I specifically want to know:
How they are paid. Do they charge promoters and other contacts they know to secure gigs or record deals and so on, or do they just take a fee from the artist?
Why are they necessary?
What the risks are to the agent to not recoup cost to revenue return on their interventions.
