Who's Robin?

I saw that Glenn Hughes was releasing an album with Robin George. Anyone knows who he is and what Glenn's participation in the project will be?

I pre-ordered the album due out in April. Hopefully...

I just got it. Not a masterpiece, but a good rock/soul/funk mix for the end of the '80's. It's more an historical piece. It took almost 20 years to be released!

Do you recommend it for casual GH fans? I like his 2000s albums quite a bit, but his earlier solo stuff isn't as good IMO.

I wouldn't recommand it to you if you're not a die-hard fan or a collector of Glenn Hughes's work. You could be interested in it if you're shedding tears of nostalgy by listening to monument of 80's funk rock music such as Living Colour or Jean Beauvoir's "Feel the Heat".

However, it is true that Glenn's voice on this one is much better than on his Sabbath album.

Robin George was a mediocre guitar player who had his 15 mins of fame among UK hard rock fans in the mid 80s.

Sweet Revenge is a demo recorded with Glenn in 1990 when he was "drunk". It is also an unsanctioned, unlicensed and illegal release. In fact, Glenn is very annoyed about it and is on record as saying that "it is taking food from my family's table"; he does not get a single cent from Krescendo Records nor can he track them down.

To quote Glenn: "Don't buy it"

In other words: it's a collector...

PLEASE HELP GLENN HUGHES: DONATE TO HIM AND HIS FAMILY. CALL "0900 2 GLENN 2 EAT 4 2DAY". GOD BLESS YOU

(by the way, just explain: if this album is sh*t, why would Glenn want to be paid for it?)

According to GH, it is sh*t, however the artist should still be entitled to royalties if a product with his name on it is being sold as an official product. After all, millions of people make a very good living out of providing sub-standard/inferior work and service in every other industry, every day of the week! emoticon

GH appears not have a problem with unofficial bootleg material being shared amongst die-hard fans because nobody gains financially. However, should a casual fan decide to pay good money for “Sweet Revenge” instead of one of the other (numerous) GH recordings that he does get royalties from, then he would be losing out emoticon

Glenn obviously does not need the money but ”Taking food from the family table” may mean that the beneficiaries of his Will (family members) would receive less when he departs this mortal coil!! emoticon

Die-hard fans are still going to buy the CD, so it would be better for all if Glenn did sanction its official release. Unless of course, he wants to deprive Robin George emoticon
