Rick Wakeman interviews Jon Lord
http://rockondigital.com/catalog/5808.html
--- Blackmore on Beck: Jeff Beck's great to listen to. I don't put myself on Jeff Beck's level, but I can relate to him when he says he'd rather be working on his car collection than playing the guitar.

Ahhh!!! This is awesome! A must see for any Mark 1 (and marks thereafter) fan.
I always get a kick out of Jon's ability to recall his past with such clarity and wit.

Re: Rick Wakeman interviews Jon Lord
This interview was almost an hour long. Some material covered I've heard before, and was nothing new.
However, some of it was enlightening and fresh. Two items come to mind:
1) I did not know that Jon Lord had specifically studied the post be-bop jazz of the 1960's. This now makes all the sense in the world if you listen to his improv organ styles in the 1970-72 era.
Jazz pianist McCoy Tyner led the post be-bop movement in the early to mid 1960's, and one of his signature sounds was the "quartal triad"-- The concept of building a three note chord from two stacked "perfect fourth" intervals. (examp: C-F-Bb, E-A-D, etc.).
If you listen to some of JL's solos from the Scandanavian Nights CD (concert recorded Nov. 1970), and many other places as well, you will hear the quartal perfect fourths all over the organ...an unmistakable sound once you learn how to identify it. Jon's use of altered 9th chords, especially the unmistakable #9th, has also been a trademark of his sound... also a signature sound of post be-bop jazzers.
2) They ponied up their own money to fly over to Japan and play in August 1972.
There's a myth amongst people not in the know that musicians who are good just magically get flown to far away exotic venues and then paid millions of dollars to bask in the glory. While this may be the case in some instances-- and maybe the fairytale lavish treatment of Mark 1 via Tetragrammaton in LA is one such example-- in most cases, even people who have enjoyed some notoriety still need to stir the pot with their own resources and finances, if they are to generate new momentum, and/or keep existing momentum flowing.
I found those two specific topics intriguing, and am glad that even 41 years after DP's inception that Jon Lord still has some unique stories, facts, and wisdom to impart.
Good job on the interview on both the parts of RW and JL. I get the impression that even after recording stopped, those two could have taken the conversation down to a local pub, and they could have continued another 6 hours on a couple of pints if they had wanted to.
They seem like good friends who have a great respect for one another, especially sharing the same instrument in the same type of genres and projects.

Scroll through the programme guide. It's probably a case of keep looking until it appears as it was on just the other day
They seem to repeat the same one several times each day

If you haven't aleady found it, it's under a programme called Rick Wakeman - Face To Face.
It's repeated every couple of weeks on rotation, so there's plenty of chances to catch it.
