My band covering purple
hey all. we have this long and never resulting project (some possible gigs are seeable though) that covers the 'purple family tree' and some other bands like winger, toto etc. we don't have a lot of recordings yet but here's the one and only one we got. i'd be more than happy to hear your comments on this, as i remember a lot of members being musicians and playing dp covers.

Re: My band covering purple
The DP covers I have myself played during the last five or so years are PS, Burn, Demon's Eye, I'm Alone, Call of the Wild and Hush (ok not original DP). And Fire in the Basement once, I think.
I (we) quickly noticed that while you can do PS and Burn almost note-for-note and sound quite good, the originals are so unique there seemed to be little point. But if you play COTW and rock it up, or make it funkier, or etc, it can sound really good. I'm Alone is a fun piece to play, too.
Having said that, your version of PS is very good. A BIT rushed perhaps (I only thought of this during the instrumental parts), if you slow it down just a little, I think it sounds even better. Nice guitar work - you're better than Morse on this track!
PS (no pun inteneded), great to hear from you again!

Re: My band covering purple
Hi Rezi!
Thanks for your comments and compliment on the guitar work (had a good laugh about the Morse thing!). You're right about the tempo we played, we seem to fasten things up a bit which I really don't like at times.
(It seems like COTW is somehow a popular tune to play among cover bands. Interesting )

Re: My band covering purple
Very nice played. A little too rushed, but a good example of a good PS cover.

Re: My band covering purple
Thanks a lot mate! Yes, it's a fact that we rushed on that one. I did share this thought of yours with the other members of the band and they agreed as well. We have a couple more videos, they're only on facebook right now but when it's sent to me I'll upload them on youtube. We have Anya recorded, which you guys might find interesting.

Re: My band covering purple
Hey guys!
Here's a new video I just posted on youtube. This time it's not a DP cover, just jamming on some jazzy stuff. Hope you like it.
