Although I'm sure it wont be, and will never be....
Yes, can clearly hear the difference and it sounds much better, but I'm still wondering if this differs much from any "standard" treble bleed mod...? Has anyone here tried a treble bleed mod?

Re: MTC demo
Here's some interesting info on how treble bleeds works, and I'm more and more convinced that the MTC actually is a "home made" treble bleed with secret cap values. That's why it is in a box. I bet that none of Blackmores guitars contains the box, but that the caps are there, in the open, for everyone to see...who have access to his guitar electronics!
Me thinking out loud: What if the MTC is just that- a treble bleed? Blackmore wont let anyone know what's in his guitars, so he and Dawk name it the MTC to confuse us "gearheads". If it's "only" a treble bleed, Blackmore sure as hell wont tell anyone it's just that. It easier to call it the MTC to confuse and keep the secret...
Anyway, here's the link:

Re: MTC demo
i think you'll find its a little more than a treble bleed.
i mean mij had his tech
' "investigate" the MTC in great detail'
and then commented 'Its an interesting idea'
i believe you'll find its a LCR [filter] circuit. similar to bill lawrences 'Q-filter'
not much more than a treble bleed though.
--- so what exactly does the 2nd circuit in the RBTC do then?
:)

Re: MTC demo
Dawk describes it in his forum as a “Hailicaster Treble Bleed”, so I guess it would be correct to say it is some kind of treble bleed with values still unknown. It shouldn't be so hard to find out those values though

Re: MTC demo
People, what is your arguing about. Ritchie himself is a genious in creating his own sound. But I can not say the same about Dawk and other techs who were around. Ritchie had the best guitar sound in the world before Dawk and still has long after him. I can not find any geniously thing to create MTC, RBTC, Boosters, Flangers, Delays. There is no magic in it. Sit beside a good engineer and he will create whatever you want. I think the same was with Brian May, Tony Iommy, Jimmy Page.... Hundreds techs helped them but only them we know as real genious. Your dispute is about nothing. Want to know something ask Ritchie himself. It is funny to come to this forum once or twice in a year and read the same old things.

Where is here the stuff you are all fighting for? There is no reason to discuss what better MTC or RBTC or good Bernd products. They are all just top end shimmers. Learn to play like Ritchie or the Shed, Stratman and.... Do you sound like Blackmore on the unplugged guitar? Try it late at night. If yes. Get yourself good tube amp and try to sound like Ritchie on mentioned video. If yes. Then you can get all these toys and I think it does not matter how they named and who them created. They will just underline your playing. If something wrong nothing will help you even from the magic box.

Askhat
Well said. I think we are all getting bogged down with minuature. Like I said, this is all icing on the cake stuff. The main thing is to get your playing right. I do a good Blackmore impression when I want to but generally I play with my own style which is a mix of lots of influences.
I for one would be happy if we can just move on and start talking about something more relevant.

Not necessarily.
1. What would be the purpose of lying about it? It's something else to lie about disconnected tone controls or claim it was always "full up" because it will send people off in a wrong direction. But with a person, like Dawk?
2. There are other evidence like album credits that confirms Dawk's involvement.
3. There are people who remember Dawk working with the gear.
4. There have been no contradicting statements about it.
You seem to think Blackmore's own words can't be trusted because he has said things that weren't true.
We can continue to play this game and take it even further. We can apply the same on people here in the forum. We can look at your friend's statements from when he posted as Dawksfan and compare it with the contradicting things he says now when he posts as Mijfenders. With your logic he has more or less been disqualified from further discussions. But maybe you disagree?

I see your point Askhat but I disagree with you.
There are some of us who like to discuss different types of gear and compare it with other things, other people simply don't care or think it really doesn't matter.
There are thousands of pedals out there. Distortion,,,boosters, overdrive etc. They all sound different. Some people discuss if silicon or germanium transistors sound better. Take the Tube Screamer pedal, it's been out in several versions. Some people discuss if the JRC4558D IC chip or the rare TL4558P chip sound better etc. Others think it doesn't matter and are happy with what is being offered in the latest reissues. The difference may be minor for some, but for the involved player it's a world of difference and he wouldn't agree with your statement that "there is no magic in it"
Same thing with Delay/Echo. Some people just hear an echo and a repeated signal and they don't care how it's produced. A tape echo, a BBD based pedal and a digital delay sound all different from each other. What you prefer is a matter of taste.
To say gear doesn't matter is quite ignorant. Players like Blackmore, Iommi etc. rarely used stock gear. They had the gear modded and spent lots of money on getting their sounds and paid large freight costs to have tons of gear being shipped across the globe when they are on tour.
If all they needed was an accoustic guitar or a guitar with an amp without anything else...wouldn't they all do that?
Blackmore certainly had a great sound before Dawk, but it was different from his current tone. And his current tone is the result of decades of experiments, with Dawk's involvement.
