Come Taste the Band remasters question..
If any is done for CTTB, who would all have to give the OK for it to go ahead. Deep Purple's management, the Estate of Thomas Bolin, David Coverdale, or a combination of the previously mentioned have to sign off?

There didn't seem to be any legal problems when Metal Blade remastered and reissued CTTB in the late 80's. (Nice job too, with the album art recreated nicely.) I don't think there are any legal holdups, I think the issue was locating the master tapes. If I recall, they've been found.

Not heard of this 'Metal Blade' remaster, Jim. How did it come about and is it available?

Re: Come Taste the Band remasters question..
I bought my copy in the early 90's.The YEN was quite ok, because it was not that expensive.....
It's Japanese. Warner brothers / Burnnnn/Forever Young series.....I always thought it soounded perfect, never wished for a remaster..... and I did let Glenn put an autograph on my vinyl edition

Re: Come Taste the Band remasters question..
I obviously wouldn't mind if they released a remastered version of CCTB, but I'm not as impatient as I was with some others (Fireball, WWTWA), as there is already a lot of bonus material that has been released from that period.

Love obviously.

Re: Come Taste the Band remasters question..
I'd love it if they did this. Fantastic LP if you ask me.
Bonus material would be great, although I suspect that a lot of it is already covered in Days May Come And Days May Go.
For some great news on Days May Come.... check out Deep Purple net

Back in 1988 or so, Metal Blade bought the rights to the three deleted Warner Brothers DP albums (Stormbringer, Made In Europe and Come Taste The Band),then remastered and released them here in the US. (They also remastered and reissued the Ian Gillan Band/Gillan catalog at the same time.) They've been out of print for quite awhile, but show up quite regularly online at places that sell used CD's. I thought that they all sounded great, although there is some debate on the source of the master tapes used in the remastering process. The Metal Blade Stormbringer sounds brighter and cleaner then my old EMI CD, at least to my battered old ear drums.

Re: Come Taste the Band remasters question..
I think "Magic" on Metal Blade was not from the original master, now that you mention this, as my copy sounds like a flat transfer.
Very dull in comparison to the vinyl, even the picture disc sounds that good, could it have been taken from that?

Since the only Ian Gillan albums originally released in the US were Child In Time, Scarabus and Glory Road, it's hard to say what master tapes were used by Metal Blade. I'm pretty sure they had access to the Warner Brothers masters for the three DP albums they released, but the source of the Gillan masters is anyone's guess. I haven't bought any of the recent reissues, so I can't say if there's an improvement or not.

Re: Come Taste the Band remasters question..
Thanks for the reply, I did like them when they came out on MB, because of the bonus tracks all included, some of them were pretty rare at the time, like 'Handles On Her Hips' and a few others that were elusive in the US.
As for the new remasters, man what an improvement from the first note you hear, they sound cleaned up, and usually it's hard to notice, but this is a much noted difference, very faitfhull upgrades.
