The best quality S&M concert
I'm looking for the best quality concert off the 'Slaves & Masters' tour in 1991. Can anybody help me with picking one or two bootlegs with the soundboard quality?

Re: The best quality S&M concert
There are some concerts available in soundboard quality: Ostrava (the first show of the tour), Philadelphia, Sao Paulo and Tel Aviv. However, the best show musically imho was Freiburg, and there's a very good audience recording of that existing.

Try the Deep Purple Hub. They have lots of concerts for downloading and/ or sharing.

I don't think quality and slaves and masters tour should be put in the same sentence.

Why? The singer was an embarresment to both the band and the fans, and himself, but the band was playing much better than in years. In fact, they were almost reaching 70s standards. They hit their "reunionpeak" during the Battle tour.

Re: The best quality S&M concert
I have to agree that musically it was one of the best periods in Purple history. And that's why I forgive them the singer.

Re: The best quality S&M concert
Except the vocals, the S&M tour certainly was better than what they did in the 1980s.

Re: The best quality S&M concert
JLT aquitted himself very well on the S&M tour. The band was hot and Turner sounded much better than the hacking and wheezing Gillan had sounded in the Eighties and early-to-mid-Nineties.
A lot of people here hammer on Turner, but he has always kept his voice in shape and is very consistent. With Gillan, even to this day, you never know which version will show-up. Like him or not, you know what you are going to get with JLT.

Yes, you know what you are going to get with Turner, but Purple was the wrong band for him. It certainly wasn't a match made in heaven.
