Do you consider Mark V as Purple???

DEEP PURPLE Mark V are:
Ritchie Blackmore (guitar)
Joe Lynn Turner (vocals)
Roger Glover (bass)
Jon Lord (keyboards)
Ian Paice (drums)

Do you consider Mark V worthy to carry the name Deep Purple???

Do you think SLAVES AND MASTERS should be included in Purple discography???

Do you think Mark V should be erased in Purple history???

Subsidiary question: Do you consider mk I, III, IV, VI, VII and VIII as Deep Purple?

MKIV and MKVIII with only two and one original member(s), respectively, are still Purple. If you consider MKIIa to be the true Purps, then it is two and three.

Until Paice, Gillan and Glover finally retire, it is still Purple.

4/5 of the most famous lineup. Of course it can carry te DP moniker...

Worthiness is in the eyes of the beholder, and while SM is not my favorite moment in DP history...it is a DP album

That makes me think... Whitesnake mk III could have been called Deep Purple. Even Gary Moore Band with Ian Paice could have been called Deep Purple... Funny, isn't it?

PS Moreover, there was Don Airey in it...!

Yeah, calling it Rainbow is silly.

Sorry, as a European, I had to find the exact definitio of "AOR", which I found on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album-oriented_rock). But it includes this strange statement:

"In some markets the term AOR was re-positioned as Adult-oriented rock, implying that 'adults' were more likely to buy albums rather than singles." Do they mean "single" teenagers vs "married" adults???

Why don't we say "FM Hard Rock"? Because "Europe" invented it?

Granted regarding the 4/5 fraction, but considering that the singer is all important to the (Mk2) sound of the heyday and I personally don't rate JLT at all then for me it is a definite no-no. For me Slaves & Masters will never be seen as a DP album or worthy of the name...

...other than that I think S & M was great!! emoticon

To be honest, the moment I bought TBRO in 1993, in the garbage can went S&M. So, I gave it a chance, but when I had the chance I tossed it. With Ian Gillan back (warts and all) this was DP to me.

Only recently did I buy S&M again; used copy, just to have everything with the name DP. Oh, the material world can eat you alive.
