No. I consider MKV to be a Purpleish version of Rainbow. There were 3 members from the last incarnation of Rainbow, and two members from Whitesnake.
RainSnake or WhiteBow?

But you could also argue that there are 4 members of the classic purple line up including 3 original members so that makes them as much Deep Purple as MKII and III, and more so than any other MK.

A: Well, it´s a Rainbow album, really. It sounds like a Rainbow album. It´s written by RB/RG/JLT mainly.
Fire in the basement is a great track though, sounds very DP, and where the Lord is present and Paicey is not replaced by a drum machine...
It´s a great Rainbow album!

I get this a lot...I love Slaves and Masters, somedays, it's my favorite album
anyway...I do think it was Deep Purple (its like asking if Black Sabbath with Dio is still Black Sabbath)...it all goes down to ones point of view!

It may be 4/5ths Purple, but it is also 3/5ths Rainbow. And when you think about who the controlling members of the band were around that period of time, you would probably come to the conclusion that it is more Rainbow than Purple.

Yes but paice and Lord never led the band, even when Ritchie left Coverdale made the decisions usually.
I say-if it says Deep Purple on the album it's Deep Purple, just like Black Sabbath!!

Right !! No matter what we think of the music ...i rate higher S&M than Abandon althought no one complains about this one being a DP record ...as well as Bananas, is MVIII worth being called DP ?
