Ritchie & Dougie
I just wonder out of curiosity if RB and Dougie still get on well after RB disbanded Rainbow in 1997?

Re: Ritchie & Dougie
Well, Doogie asked Blackmores management resently if he, Blackmore, would be interested in helping him out with his new solo album. Don't know if Doogie have heard anything from TMIB yet. You should check out the Doogie White section here at the forum, since Doogie posts there quite often. He's a nice chap

Re: Ritchie & Dougie
Its very sad but i think that Ritchie doesn't know anything about the question of Doogie. Carole Stevens the mother of Candice and the managerin of BN doesn't want any calls of Ritchie's old friends like Doogie White.

Does anyone really believe that Ritchie has all his calls monitered by his mother in law? I dont buy into this at all if anyone is a control freak then its Blackers!!Im quite sure the people Ritchie wants contact with have his number(he does apparently speak with Jon Lord from time to time) whether Dougie is on that list I dont know but im bloody sure if he wanted to speak to him Carole Stevens wouldnt have any say so!!

Well, believe it or not....but, after being in contact with someone who used to work close with Ritchie for many years, I believe that his nightmare in law are keeping certain information away from him. That way she can be in control of who gets to be close to him, and that way she can prevent anyone from talking Ritchie into doing stuff outside of the BN project. Yes, it's possible to control anyone, even Blackmore, if you play your cards right.

Re: Ritchie & Dougie
Still it would be great if Ritchie helped Doogie with his new album. I enjoyed the SIAU album a lot.

Re: Ritchie & Dougie
The SIUA album is the only album that's in my iPod at all times! IMO, it's one of the best, if not the best, Rainbow album ever! Great songs, great playing, great singing and Blackmores tone during the ninties was just fantastic!!! So was his playing- his second peak!

I love SIUA, too. I think HH, Ariel, THOTMK and BM are in the "essential Rainbow" canon, and I like the rest of the songs a lot, too.
The only thing I'm not so crazy about it is the keyboard sound which is a bit too 1980s but I'm sure RB told Morris what kind of sound he wanted.
And yeah, Blackmore played great on the album and the tour. Killer sound, too.
I remember when I put the album on in my car, just as a quick tester for a mate (a Rainbow fan since the late 1970s but had not followed RB in DP since the 1980s) when we were returning to work from a lunch break. About 8 seconds into WTTM guitar solo he commented, "the man can still play, huh?".

Couldn't agree more! I often wonder if RB himself realises how his playing peaked at that time. I just can't get enough of SIUA and live stuff of that era.

Re: Ritchie & Dougie
Ritchie's playing already peaked in 1991. Listen to London (16th March( Freiburg, some Brasilian shows. He peaked in 1993, stuttgart, paris, essen anyone?
And yes he peaked in this Rainbow period as well, but imo the year he truly peaked was 1997 - much better then 1995 imo. The tone became warmer, more ˙˙earthy˙˙ and Ritchie's extended jams and improvs that mostly didnt exist in 95 in songs like LLRNR, MOTSM, BM we're real treats.
Not to mention his soloing in Mistreated blows away Hunting Humans in my book so im glad they droped it from the set.
