Mk 6 Live Album!!! Now a Possibility??? Here's an OnLine Petition!

They say the reason that there is NO Mark 6 live album is because their record labels won't agree.

I read somewhere that Sony Music and BMG have merge into a big record label, so the two became one.

If I remember correctly some Purple albums are under BMG/RCA Records and that's:

1) Slaves & Masters
2) The Battle Rages On
3) Come Hell Or High Water
4) Purpendicular (CMC/BMG)
5) Abandon (CMC/BMG)
6) some other compilations...

While Joe Satriani is under Epic Records of Sony Music until now and during the Mark 6 existance in 1993-94, Deep Purple is under BMG/RCA Records and Satriani is under Sony Music, I believe it is NO longer a problem since they are already ONE.

I believe it's up to Bruce Payne, if he can convince Sony BMG to released this classic live album.

Since we have heard lots of Morse powered Purple live discs and DVDs, this is a welcome addition to the catalog, if this happens. I'm sure Satriani would also be excited about this.

I think all we need now is a catalyst, someone like Bruce Payne. emoticon

Hello,
I think someone will release live album from 1993 tour...so perhaps there will be more! I'd like to get an official album from S&M-tour. That line up had so much potential! Perhaps another album and they could have buried Made in Japan -setlist...emoticon

Br,

Your post has me drooling, neighing, whinnying and running amok in my corrall, Randy! emoticon
I also took the liberty of editing in the "OnLine Petition" part of the thread/topic's title...so let me be one of the first to sign on said petition that calls for the official release of live MkV, and especially live MkVI material!

I'd love to see a release as much as anyone, but according to a Q&A from Roger Glover's site, Satriani and his management are the ones holding back permission.:

"On to the Questions:

Now that DP has solidified life after Blackmore, is there any chance that an official live release with Joe Satriani would be released? Also, how about any of the unreleased Joe Lynn Turner era DP (aka from the Battle Rages On or the "Hey Joe" live jam rehearsal). Is this something you would like to see happen some day?

Best Regards,

Frank

P.S. Please tell IG he's a fantastic harp player, I'd love to hear some more harmonica on the new record.

RG: Hi Frank,

There was only one proper live recording with Joe in the band and that was during the Japanese tour when he had been playing with us for a few days. The quality of the recording is very good and we had hoped for a release of When A Blind Man Cries at that time but Joe (and his management) firmly refused permission for that because he felt that it was too early on in his relationship with us and that his playing sounded like he was feeling his way. I thought it was great but we have no choice but to respect his wishes. They might surface one day, who knows? AFAIK there were no decent live recordings of our time with JLT. I don’t think, certainly at this stage in our career, that we should be trying to find dodgy recordings of writing sessions, however interesting they may be to a few people, sorry.

RG"

Somewhere in 2000 the band had been bug and wiretapped. emoticon emoticon

Let's listen to the tape.

Gillan & Lord is not here, only Paicey, Steve & Bruce.

Bruce: Hey the record labels have agreed to release "Flying in A Purple Dream" with Joe Satriani.

Paicey: Great!!!

Steve: No way!!! It will blew Mk 7 live albums in the dust. Don't do it.

Bruce: Okay, if you say so.

I would much rather hear one from the MK-Turner tour.
I've heard a boot or two with Satch and it's really nothing to get excited about. Just your average run of the mill Tribute Tour really. Nothing different than the rest of the boring tribute tours since 93.
The S&M tour saw RB & JL at thier best since the reunion. Now that would make a good release, otherwise MK-Satch is just re-hashing the continuance of the TBRO tour and the CHOHW cd, and he can't come close to matching Blackmore's playing throughout that one, simply because he came from the same Saturday afternoon Guitar clinic at Sam Ash as Smiley.
I get the distinct feeling that a lot of people rate a name ahead of it's substance. Hence the reason for the positive reviews of ROTD and Purpendicular.

Just who are They? I would love to know who They are. They say it's going to rain. They say it's going to snow. They say it's going to be sunny. They say we're in for a bad winter. They say we're in for a hot summer. They say there is a God. They made the rules. They know everything. I never told them that I cared what They say. Why are They here? Who even cares what They say? What makes them think that anything They say is of importance? Did They ask our opinion before saying anything at all? What do They do for a living? I have heard They say a lot of things about nothing.

I would say that's the reason why some people speak highly of Blackmore's Night...

That's right. As I said, some people. Believe it or not, there are still some people who go to a BN show just because Blackmore used to play a Stratocaster and they go in the faint hope that he plays one on the night they go. They go and don't really care that he plays some of the most beautiful acoustic guitar they will have ever heard. So in this instance, it's purely a case of some people putting the name ahead of the substance.
