NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Rapture of the Deep
This is a topic inspired by the continual negative slant to the discussions on this forum. Just once I’d like to see a topic where we say only nice or positive things. In this case it’s about the fourth album with Steve Morse on guitar. For example…
After a year, I’m still fully entertained by this magnum opus. An inspired album.
When I was in line for the band Asia last week, I was lucky enough to be in line with an old Purple fan. When I asked him what he thought of ROTD, he paused, then said: no Blackmore, no Lord, god this could have been horrible, but it’s actually really good. Any other band that loses two giants like that, I’d hate to hear the results, but with Deep Purple they always rise to the occasion with inspired replacements. Well said mate!

That’s how you play. Only nice things. If you choose to play dirty, we will simply ignore any negative comments.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Rapture of the Deep
There is nothing negative I could say about it and the nice comments would be far too many.
Okay, Before Time Began is the best DP Post reunion track.

Great Album.
Don Airey is outstanding on every single track.
Together with Purpendicular the best post reunion record.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Rapture of the Deep
Some great riffs, Wrong Man rocks on a level MK2 never managed to during the reunion. The intro to Money Talks is really good probably DP's best opening notes since... maybe Burn?
There are no bad tracks on the album, althoug a lot of them take a few listens to get into.
On the whole it's very good, not as good as Bananas, but still really enjoyable.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Rapture of the Deep
Very good tracks.
The strongest Purple album since Purpendicular.
Very good lyrics.
More experimental.

One of the best rock albums of those early 21th Century years...

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Rapture of the Deep
It's a fantastic album, and Purple should be proud to have it in their catalogue.
Sometimes I ever think it's better than Purpendicular. It is that good.

What flew through a crack in the cloud
To a place where happiness reigned all year round
Where music played ever so loudly
