The Police or Purple?
Total hypothetical here, but judging on Murphy's Law, this will likely come to fruition for me.
I have long said that if The Police reformed, I'd go see them. Therefore, I purchased tickets for their NYC show on 8/1/06.
However, I now see Purple playing in PA. on 8/9/07. Doesn't take a lot of thought to think that Purple will be in my area (NY/NJ) around that time for, yet undetermined, dates.
Question is ... what to do, in the event both shows are on 8/1/06? Blow off the Police for a possible "last" tour of DP (they are much older than the Police) or stick to the Police, thinking there will be no followup tour to this current "money grab" of theirs?
I've seen DP 19 times, The Police 0. But, hey the heart knows what the heart wants.

Well this won't be Purple's last tour yet as Gillan al;ready mentioned that they will record a follow up album to Rapture at the end of this year. I think they will last for at least two more years (40th anniversarry in 2008).
So there will be no rush.
Om the other hand they don't play the states that often, so that coulc well be a reason for you to go and see them.

You'll get to see DP in future, that's for sure.
And you won't get another chance to see Police and it is indeed a power trio. I saw them live twice - in 1981 and 1983 and these were both smashing concerts. Sting used to be a true madman on stage those days. Although he's 50-something now, I still think he can kick ass with Summers and Copeland backing him.

When I'd seen Purple already 19 times and Police never I'd prefer Police.
There's not that much new nowadays on Purple concerts and most shows you can get on bootlegs.
I remember well seeing Sting while sitting on a crane. Unforgettable!

I guess I would see The Police this time around 'cause I think that Purple will be around longer than The Police, who I guess will go out on one tour to cash in on their greatest hits.
