Thomas Broman's answers.
Former touring Drummer for Glenn Hughes, HTP, and Brazen Abbot has answered your questions.
Thomas joined the forum to answer them and obviously he is "tombrideman"

Re: Have you got a question for Thomas Broman
Hi Thomas
Can you tell us about your involvement in JJ Marsh's upcoming solo album? Any idea when it is going to be released? Are there any live shows planned?
Who were your influences when learning to play drums?
What music do you listen to in your spare time?
What plans do you have for the future?

Re: Have you got a question for Thomas Broman
Hi Thomas
First of all I would like to say thanks for the great show in Endinburgh back in Febuary with Glenn
I was wondering what sort of guys Glenn and Joe are like to be on tour with and did they often talk about their days in Deep Purple? Do you have any funny stories that you could share from your tour ? Also are you a fan of the current Deep Purple line up ?
Thanks for your time and all the best for the future

Re: Have you got a question for Thomas Broman
What kind of drums and Cymbals are you playing these days?
How old were you when you started playing drums?
Did you take drum lessons or did you teach yourself?
Which tour in your career has been your favorite and why?
Thanks for your time, it's very much appreciated!

Re: Have you got a question for Thomas Broman
What were the reasons behind leaving Glenn Hughes' band? Was it a mutual decision between the two of you?
Thanks!

Re: Have you got a question for Thomas Broman
Sorry, one more question.
On stage in Edinburgh, Glenn gave the impression that there he doesn't rate a lot of his old solo material. He said that there were "a couple of things" that he was happy with. Is this really the case?

Well, it was last autumn, we had some time off and were thinking about what to do. JJ said he´d recorded some songs on porta studio. He sent me and Kjell a tape of the songs, we listened and thought there were some brilliant ideas there. I thought we should record them properly. We got together in a rehersal a couple of times and worked a bit on them. It was basically about rehersing the songs cause JJ allready had it all figured out, he´s very talented that bloke as I´m sure you all know by now. I got in touch with an old friend of ours that had just got his own studio together and recorded the stuff. The result is amazing, you have to hear it!
Ehm...apart from that, well I play the drums.
And by the way it´s not going to be a solo project it´s going to be a band. Albatross!
Great name huh

At the moment we´re looking for a record deal, and it looks like that´s going to be sorted out quite soon. My guess is it could be released in the autumn some time.
quote:
Are there any live shows planned?
Not until the album is released, but when it is I hope we´re gonna tour our asses off.
quote:
Who were your influences when learning to play drums?
My first big influence was Mick Tucker (The Sweet) fantastic drummer in every way. He might be a bit underrated I think.
My main influence I think was/is Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy) no one grooves like him, everything just flows, he´s incredibly musical, the best. Just listen to "Live & Dangerous" and you´ll see what I mean.
I could name a hundred others, to make easier I can say my influences are all from the seventies and they´re from the UK.
quote:
What music do you listen to in your spare time?
To be honest I don´t listen to much music when I´m not working, mostly radio actually(boring I know).
The last album I put on, some time ago, was "Strangers in the night" with UFO, great album.
quote:
What plans do you have for the future?
Have my first kid in August. Get the "Albatross" album out. Tour, tour and tour. Record another album with Albatross. Play drums. Be happy.....
